Abstract

Cervical cancer remains a major health burden among women, particularly in developing countries. Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is an economical, simple, and feasible early screening method for primary healthcare facilities. However, screening participation among women of reproductive age remains low, partly due to limited knowledge about cervical cancer and the importance of early detection. This study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge and VIA screening uptake among women of reproductive age. A quantitative analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted at Morodadi Primary Health Center, Morotai Island Regency, from February to April 2026. Sixty women of reproductive age were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable structured questionnaire and analyzed using univariate statistics and the Chi-square test at α = 0.05. High knowledge was found in 40.0% of respondents, moderate knowledge in 35.0%, and low knowledge in 25.0%. Overall, 60.0% had undergone VIA screening, while 40.0% had not. Chi-square analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge and VIA screening uptake (p = 0.002). Higher knowledge was significantly associated with VIA screening uptake. Health promotion and reproductive health education should be strengthened to increase screening participation.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) among pregnant women remains a public health concern because it increases the risk of adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. The Indonesian government implemented the Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable pregnant women. This study evaluated the effectiveness of PMT in improving nutritional indicators among pregnant women with CED in the Sangowo Primary Health Care coverage area. A pre-experimental single-group pretest–posttest design was used involving 60 pregnant women with CED selected through total sampling. Mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) and body weight were measured before and after 90 days of nutritional supplementation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired t-test at α = 0.05. Mean MUAC increased from 22.34 ± 0.74 cm to 23.68 ± 0.81 cm, while mean body weight increased from 49.82 ± 5.28 kg to 52.11 ± 5.36 kg. The paired t-test showed a statistically significant improvement in nutritional indicators (p < 0.001). PMT significantly improved nutritional indicators among pregnant women with CED. Continued implementation should include nutrition education, adherence monitoring, and clinical management.

Abstract

Background: Baby blues syndrome is one of the most common psychological conditions experienced by women during the postpartum period, resulting from biological, psychological, and social changes following childbirth. Husband support is an important protective factor that may help mothers adapt to their new parental roles and reduce the risk of postpartum emotional disturbances. This support may include emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal support. This study aimed to determine the relationship between husband support and the occurrence of baby blues syndrome among postpartum mothers. Methods: This study used a quantitative observational analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted from January to March 2026 at a maternal health service facility. A total of 60 postpartum mothers were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires assessing respondent characteristics, husband support, and baby blues syndrome. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Chi-Square test with a 95% significance level. Results: Most respondents received good husband support (63.3%), while 30.0% experienced baby blues syndrome. The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between husband support and baby blues syndrome (p = 0.002). Mothers receiving good husband support were less likely to experience baby blues syndrome. Conclusion: Husband support is significantly associated with baby blues syndrome among postpartum mothers. Strengthening husband involvement may support maternal mental health during the postpartum period.
