Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease characterized by blood pressure of 140/90 mmHg or higher. Its prevalence continues to increase, and many patients remain undiagnosed or uncontrolled. A survey conducted in RT 35 Lebung Jaya, Talang Betutu Village, Palembang, showed that 52 percent of residents had hypertension. This condition requires simple and easy-to-apply non-pharmacological interventions, such as the finger-hold relaxation technique of the Jin Shin Jyutsu method, which may help reduce blood pressure. The purpose of this case study was to analyze the decrease in blood pressure after the application of evidence-based nursing finger-grip relaxation therapy in hypertensive clients during nursing care. This scientific paper used a case study design with finger-grip relaxation therapy as the intervention. The number of respondents was three people. The intervention was carried out for three consecutive days, with a duration of 20 minutes per session. The results showed that all three respondents experienced a decrease in blood pressure after performing finger-grip relaxation therapy for three consecutive days, with an average reduction of 20.3 mmHg in systolic blood pressure and 8.3 mmHg in diastolic blood pressure. This therapy is expected to provide useful information for hypertensive patients regarding finger-grip relaxation as a non-pharmacological method to reduce blood pressure and encourage patients to practice it independently as a routine habit.
