Abstract

Youth interest in agricultural employment is a crucial factor in ensuring workforce sustainability and the generational renewal of farmers. Karanggeneng District is an area with thriving agricultural activity, yet youth involvement remains a challenge. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing youth interest in agricultural employment in Karanggeneng District, Lamongan Regency. The research was conducted in Jagran and Banjarmadu villages using proportionate random sampling, involving 90 youths aged 16–30. Data analysis employed Binary Logistic Regression, incorporating variables such as family size, land area, education level, age, and gender. The results indicate that, collectively, these five variables significantly influence youth interest. However, when analyzed individually, gender was the only variable with a significant impact, while family size, land area, education level, and age did not show significant effects. Gender differences highlight distinct tendencies in interest regarding agricultural work between young men and women. These findings underscore the importance of considering youth characteristics when attempting to boost young people's engagement in the agricultural sector. Developing agricultural activities that are inclusive, adaptive, and aligned with youth characteristics is essential to support farmer renewal and the sustainability of the agricultural sector in Karanggeneng District.
