Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the work environment and compensation on work stress among employees at PT. Bank Mandiri Regional Card Center (RCC). The study employs a quantitative approach with a causal-associative design and a cross-sectional study method. The study population consists of 133 permanent employees actively working in 2025. The sample was determined using stratified random sampling and Slovin's formula with a 5% margin of error, resulting in 100 respondents. Data were collected via questionnaires using a 1–5 Likert scale, supplemented by observations and interviews. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination, utilizing SPSS software. The results indicate that the work environment has a significant negative effect on work stress, with a calculated t-value of -7.806 and a significance level of 0.000. Compensation also has a significant negative effect on work stress, with a calculated t-value of -5.600 and a significance level of 0.000. Simultaneously, the work environment and compensation significantly influence work stress, as evidenced by a calculated F-value of 43.855 and a significance level of 0.000. The Adjusted R-Square value of 0.464 indicates that these two variables explain 46.4% of the variation in work stress, while the remaining 53.6% is explained by factors outside the model. Descriptively, the mean scores were 3.59 for the work environment, 3.24 for compensation, and 2.75 for work stress. Thus, improving the quality of the work environment and establishing a fair and adequate compensation system can play a crucial role in mitigating employee work stress within the RCC unit.
