Abstract

Background: Public health centers require consistent employee performance to maintain service quality. Limited human resources, however, may lead to double job assignments, unfavorable work environments, and reduced work motivation. Patient visits at Remaja Public Health Center, Samarinda, increased from 25,576 visits in 2024 to 28,126 visits through November 2025, making workforce management increasingly important. Purpose: This study analyzed the relationships between double job, work environment, work motivation, and employee performance at Remaja Public Health Center, Samarinda. Methods: A quantitative observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in April 2026. The population comprised 33 employees, and 30 eligible employees participated as respondents. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed. Fisher’s Exact Test was applied because several expected cell counts were below five, with a significance level of 0.05. Results: Overall, 70.0% of respondents had poor performance, 53.3% reported a high double-job burden, 80.0% perceived the work environment as poor, and 66.7% had low work motivation. Significant associations were found between double job and performance (p=0.017), work environment and performance (p=0.049), and work motivation and performance (p=0.030). Conclusion: Double job, work environment, and work motivation were associated with employee performance. The health center should improve task allocation, strengthen a supportive work environment, and sustain employee motivation through recognition, managerial support, and competency development
