Abstract

The complexity of hospital layouts with numerous outpatient clinics can make it difficult for patients to locate healthcare services, particularly new and older patients. This study aimed to develop an interactive digital map of outpatient services at Rumah Sakit X Kabupaten Blitar as an information medium for service locations and routes. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach was used. The study was conducted in the outpatient service area, which consists of 31 clinics distributed across two floors. Data were collected through field observations, interviews, focused discussions, and validation with relevant parties. The development stages included identifying the existing map, identifying information needs, designing the media, validating location and route information, revising the design, and testing media functions. The results showed that the existing map had limitations in typography size, color differentiation, visualization of public facilities, route presentation, and inter-page navigation. The map was developed by grouping information by floor, adding supporting facilities, providing location and route markers, presenting the service flow, and integrating hyperlinks into an interactive PDF format. Validation results showed that information on clinic locations, facilities, and routes was adjusted to field conditions. Technical testing showed that buttons, hyperlinks, page transitions, and navigation functions operated as designed. This study produced an interactive digital map that technically functions as an information medium for outpatient service locations and routes. However, its effectiveness in improving patient navigation cannot yet be established because user testing has not been conducted.
