The global environmental crisis indicates that current approaches to sustainable education remain predominantly focused on ecological, social, and economic dimensions, while the spiritual dimension has not yet been optimally integrated. This condition highlights the need for an educational paradigm that connects Islamic values with the principles of sustainability. This study aims to develop a Green Islamic Education paradigm through the integration of the khalifah fil ard value as a foundation for sustainable education in the 21st century. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Data were obtained from the Qur’an, hadith, scholarly books, reputable journal articles, and international documents related to Islamic education, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and environmental education. Data were analyzed using content analysis through the processes of data reduction, categorization, synthesis, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the concept of khalifah fil ard can be developed into an educational paradigm that integrates the values of tawhid, amanah, mizan, and maslahah with the principles of sustainability. This synthesis results in a conceptual model of Green Islamic Education that connects theological foundations, educational systems, the development of 21st-century Green Competencies, the formation of Green Character and Sustainability, and the realization of Insan Kamil with ecological awareness. This model expands the philosophical discourse of Islamic education by positioning environmental preservation as an integral part of educational objectives. Therefore, Green Islamic Education offers a conceptual paradigm that can serve as a reference for developing curricula, learning practices, school culture, and Islamic education policies oriented toward sustainability.
