Conjunctions play an important role in creating grammatical cohesion by connecting ideas within a text. This study aims to identify the types of conjunctions and analyze their internal and external functions in Fearless by Lauren Roberts based on Halliday and Hasan’s (1976) theory. A descriptive qualitative method was employed to identify, classify, and analyze conjunctions throughout the novel. The findings showed that 496 conjunctions were classified into four types: additive, adversative, causal, and temporal. Adversative conjunctions were the most dominant, occurring 195 times. The analysis found that conjunctions serve both internal and external functions, with external functions occurring more frequently (348 occurrences) than internal functions (148 occurrences). These findings indicate that conjunctions contribute not only to grammatical cohesion but also to the development of a clear and coherent narrative.
