Abstract

ABSTRACT Hypertension is a condition of increased blood pressure that occurs due to disorders in the blood vessels, so that the distribution of oxygen and nutrients to body tissues can be disrupted. The leading cause of death in the world, with the number of cases expected to continue to increase along with population growth, both at the individual and family level. Globally, WHO data in 2023 shows that the prevalence of hypertension reaches 33% of the total world population. Meanwhile, the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia reaches 34.11% in the population aged ≥18 years. This condition is not only found in the elderly group, but also begins to occur frequently in the productive age group, namely 31–64 years, with the incidence tending to increase with age. To implement family nursing care, especially for Mr. A's family through non-pharmacological therapy with Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) and black garlic therapy as an effort to reduce blood pressure in clients with hypertension. Using an experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach that aims to assess changes in conditions before and after the intervention. Shows that non-pharmacological therapy in the form of PMR and black garlic given for three consecutive days, provides results in accordance with the indicators of success, namely increased cerebral perfusion, decreased anxiety levels, and decreased systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Giving PMR and black garlic therapy for three consecutive days is effective in helping to reduce blood pressure, which was initially 157/98 mmHg to 120/76 mmHg after the intervention was given. Keywords: Systolic, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Perfusion, Hypertension, Diastolic, Black Garlic.
