Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implementation of interactive animation media in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning and to determine the extent to which it improved the learning interest of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 9 Pulau Morotai. The study was motivated by students' low learning interest, indicated by limited attention, passivity, and a lack of enthusiasm during lessons. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model was employed, implemented in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 20 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, a learning-interest questionnaire, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative percentage techniques. The results showed that teacher activity increased from 65% (Cycle I) to 80% (Cycle II), student activity increased from 41,9% to 76.56%, and students' learning interest increased from 45,25% in Cycle I to 78,5% in Cycle II. The increase of 33,25 percentage points indicates that interactive animation media contributed to greater students’ attention, enthusiasm, active participation, and willingness to engage in IPAS learning. These findings imply that the use of interactive animation media can create a more engaging and student-centered learning environment, thereby supporting the development of students’ learning interest, particularly when teaching abstract topics such as the water cycle.
