Abstract

This study examines the effects of attitudes and subjective norms on students’ intention to use cashless payments, with self-efficacy as a mediator, at Darussalam Mekar Agung Islamic Boarding School, Madiun. Using a quantitative explanatory design, 254 students were selected from 694 students through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using five-point Likert questionnaires and analyzed using SEM-PLS with SmartPLS. Results show that attitudes and subjective norms positively and significantly influence self-efficacy, which significantly influences intention to use. Subjective norms also significantly influence intention directly, whereas attitudes do not. Self-efficacy fully mediates the effect of attitudes and partially mediates the effect of subjective norms on intention. The model explains 75.1% of the variance in intention and 68.8% in self-efficacy. These findings highlight self-efficacy as an important psychological mechanism linking attitudes and subjective norms to cashless payment intentions in Islamic boarding schools.
