This study aims to analyze the existence of the traditional sport Belanjakan toward the construction of cultural identity of the Sasak community in Masbagik District, East Lombok Regency, as well as to identify the factors and local wisdom values embedded within it. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Source of data were classified into primary data obtained through participant observation and structured interviews, and secondary data via documentation study. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, consisting of cultural figures, an educational practitioner and students. Data analysis applied the Miles and Huberman interactive model encompassing data reduction, narrative data presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by prolonged observation to guarantee data trustworthiness. The results indicate that Belanjakan is an empty-handed martial art focusing on kicking, slamming, and locking techniques, tied to cultural celebrations and post-harvest moments. Theoretically (Stuart Hall), this sport acts as a dynamic arena for reproducing cultural identity (being and becoming). Despite facing the challenges of modernization in the form of a shallow understanding of the rules among teenagers due to the dominance of modern sports, Belanjakan persists because it contains spiritual values, courage (chivalry), maintaining self-respect (malu), and strengthening social solidarity. The study recommends integrating these values into the local content curriculum of Physical Education in schools as a preservation strategy for intangible cultural heritage.
