Abstract

Abstract. This community service mini research aimed to describe changes in parents’ knowledge about meeting the nutritional needs of preschool children following digital-based nutrition education. A quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was used. The participants were 23 parents or caregivers of preschool-aged children. Knowledge was assessed using a 25-item questionnaire covering balanced nutrition, food groups, healthy food choices, snacks, meal portions, breakfast, fruit and vegetable consumption, and limiting foods high in sugar, salt, and fat. Data were analyzed descriptively using scores, percentages, means, and knowledge categories, while paired t-test was used to compare pre-test and post-test scores. The mean knowledge score increased from 15.30 (76.50%) before education to 17.30 (86.52%) after education, representing an increase of 2.00 points or 10.02 percentage points. Eighteen respondents (78.3%) experienced an increase in scores, while five (21.7%) had unchanged scores. The paired t-test showed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (t = 4.251; df = 22; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that digital-based nutrition education has the potential to improve parents’ knowledge about fulfilling the nutritional needs of preschool children. Continued and accessible digital education may support parents in applying healthier feeding practices at home.
