Abstract

Basic immunization is an effective effort to prevent infectious diseases in infants. The benefits of immunization include helping the body develop antibodies so that it can fight disease-causingpathogens when exposed to them in thefuture. However, some mothers still fail to comply with the recommended schedule for administering basic immunization. One of the factors suspected to influence such compliance is the mother's level ofknowledge regarding basic immunization. This study ainled to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and compliance with basic immunization administration among infants aged 0—12 months in the working area of Panipahan Public Health Center. This study employed a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted ofall mothers with infants aged 0—12 months in the working area of Panipahan Public Health Center. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total sample of 49 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire to measure the mothers' level of knowledge and an observation sheet based on the Maternal and Child Health (KIA) Book to assess compliance with basic immunization adnlinistration. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test at a significance level ofa 0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a moderate level ofknowledge, consisting of 25 respondents (51.0%), followed by a low level of knowledge among 13 respondents (26.5%), and a good level of knowledge among 11 respondents (22.4%). Regarding compliance with basic immunization administration, the majority of respondents were non-compliant, comprising 29 respondents (59.2%), while 20 respondents (40.8%) were compliant. The results of the Chi-Square test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and compliance with basic immunization administration among infants aged 0—12 months in the working area ofPanipahan Public Health Center. It can be concluded that the better the mother's knowledge regarding basic immunization, the higher the mother's level ofcompliance in administering basic immunization to her infant according to the recommended schedule
