Metal Small and Medium-sized Industries (SMIs) are integral to manufacturing supply chains, yet their cutting, welding, coating, energy use, and material handling can generate resource inefficiencies and environmental impacts. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of cleaner production and assess the initial readiness of metal SMIs to adopt green-industry practices. Conducted in April–May 2024, the program involved a face-to-face workshop with representatives of 20 SMIs, online mentoring, site visits, and gap analysis of three assisted firms at the Bandung Metal Industry Technical Service Unit. The assessment covered 14 critical areas, including facility layout, raw materials, energy, water, production processes, technology, management, greenhouse-gas emissions, waste management, packaging, and products. Average achievement scores were 69.5% for CV Jafa Mandiri, 65.0% for PT Taufik Jaya Teknik, and 72.5% for PT Heksa Prakarsa Teknik. Product-related practices achieved 100%, while the main gaps were corporate management (50%), facility layout (45–50%), procedural documentation, and environmental data availability. The program generated recommendations for work standardization, integrated material and cost records, performance indicators, worker training, green-industry policies, and improved waste management. The findings represent an initial readiness profile, not evidence of certification or causal productivity improvement.
