Abstract

Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate intervention to improve patient survival. One strategy to increase survival rates is Telephone-Assisted Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (T-CPR), in which emergency medical dispatchers provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation instructions to bystanders over the telephone. The accuracy of T-CPR implementation is influenced by several factors, particularly the dispatchers' level of knowledge and communication skills. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the knowledge level and communication skills of emergency medical dispatchers and the accuracy of T-CPR implementation among Public Safety Center (PSC) dispatchers in South Tangerang City. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design. The study involved 50 PSC dispatchers selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using knowledge and communication skills questionnaires, along with an observation checklist to assess T-CPR accuracy. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: Most respondents demonstrated good knowledge (70.0%), good communication skills (64.0%), and good T-CPR accuracy (60.0%). The Chi-Square analysis revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and T-CPR accuracy (p = 0.009), as well as between communication skills and T-CPR accuracy (p = 0.004). Conclusion: There were significant relationships between the knowledge level and communication skills of emergency medical dispatchers and the accuracy of T-CPR implementation among PSC dispatchers in South Tangerang City. Continuous education and training are recommended to enhance dispatcher competence and improve the quality of T-CPR implementation.

Abstract

Pre-hospital emergency services require rapid response times, as delays in care can increase the risk of patient mortality and disability. The response speed of Public Safety Center (PSC) 119 personnel is influenced not only by facilities and service systems but is also believed to be linked to the personnel's knowledge and attitudes regarding decision-making and the provision of prompt, accurate care. Objective: To determine the relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of PSC 119 personnel and response times for pre-hospital emergency care. Methods: A quantitative study using a cross-sectional approach and total sampling of 131 respondents. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: The majority of personnel demonstrated good knowledge (78.6%; n=103) and good attitudes (83.2%; n=109), with response times falling into the "good" category (<10 minutes; 76.3%; n=100 incidents). Statistical tests revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and response time (p<0.001; r=0.824, very strong) and between attitude and response time (p<0.001; r=0.365, weak). Conclusion: Better personnel knowledge and attitudes lead to more optimal response times, with knowledge playing a more dominant role than attitude in pre-hospital emergency services. Recommendations: PSC 119 is encouraged to continue improving the quality of pre-hospital emergency services by conducting regular emergency training and simulations, periodically evaluating response time performance, and developing the competencies of all personnel. Furthermore, efforts to optimize communication systems, strengthen coordination with relevant agencies, and provide adequate facilities and infrastructure should be sustained to ensure increasingly effective service response times.

Abstract

Vaginal discharge (*fluor albus*) is a reproductive health issue frequently experienced by adolescent girls. Its occurrence can be influenced by various factors, including self-efficacy and vulvar hygiene. Objective: To determine the relationship between self-efficacy, vulvar hygiene, and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 2 Teluknaga. Methods: This was a quantitative study with a descriptive-correlational design using a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all female students in grades VII and VIII at SMP Negeri 2 Teluknaga. The sample comprised 181 respondents selected using stratified random sampling. Research instruments included questionnaires assessing self-efficacy, vulvar hygiene, and the occurrence of vaginal discharge. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate methods, specifically the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: Among respondents with low self-efficacy, 55 (75.3%) experienced low-level vaginal discharge, 16 (21.9%) experienced moderate-level discharge, and 2 (2.7%) experienced high-level discharge. Among respondents with moderate self-efficacy, 23 (40.4%) experienced low-level discharge, 23 (40.4%) experienced moderate-level discharge, and 11 (19.3%) experienced high-level discharge. Furthermore, among respondents with high self-efficacy, 9 (17.6%) experienced low-level discharge, 19 (37.3%) experienced moderate-level discharge, and 23 (45.1%) experienced high-level discharge. The Pearson Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05); thus, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between self-efficacy, vulvar hygiene, and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 2 Teluknaga.
