Abstract

Background: Advanced lung cancer produces substantial symptom, functional, psychological, and social burden, making health-related quality of life a central palliative-care outcome. Purpose: To describe health-related quality-of-life categories among patients with advanced-stage lung cancer receiving palliative care. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study included 72 patients. Quality of life was assessed using the EORTC QLQ-C30 framework used in the original study and summarized using locally recorded categories. Frequencies and percentages described participant characteristics and quality-of-life status. Results: Poor quality of life was recorded in 54 participants (75.0%), fair quality of life in 13 (18.1%), moderate quality of life in 5 (6.9%), and no participant was classified as good. Most participants were aged 46–60 years (69.4%) and male (58.3%). Conclusion: Poor quality of life predominated. Palliative nursing should prioritize multidimensional symptom assessment, functional support, psychological care, communication, and family support. Standard EORTC domain scoring should be reported if raw data are available.
