Abstract

Hypertension is one of the leading non-communicable diseases and remains a major public health problem influenced by modifiable and non-modifiable factors. This study aims to analyze the distribution and determinants of hypertension from the perspective of epidemiology and health promotion at Dandy Dinda Tembung Clinic. A quantitative descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was applied. The study was conducted in July 2026 with 96 respondents selected using the Slovin formula from a population of 2,275 patients. Data were collected through questionnaires and blood pressure records, and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that most respondents were aged >48 years (57.3%), had moderate physical activity (57.3%), a fairly good diet (96.9%), did not smoke (54.2%), had a family history of hypertension (52.1%), and received good health promotion (94.8%). Blood pressure distribution was dominated by prehypertension (42.7%) and stage 1 hypertension (35.4%). Age (p=0.001), physical activity (p=0.039), smoking (p=0.000), and family history (p=0.000) were significantly associated with hypertension, whereas diet (p=0.534) and health promotion (p=0.070) were not. The findings support strengthening promotive and preventive efforts at the clinic.
