Abstract

The study examined the communication skills of grade IV students of MIN 1 Bandar Lampung have not been optimally demonstrated through passive attitudes, lack of courage in expressing opinions, and learning that is still dominated by teachers. This study analyzes the relationship between the application of the SFAE model and students' communication skills. This study uses a quantitative approach with the quasi experiment method and the Nonequivalent Control Group Design design. The research sample amounted to 56 students divided into an experimental class and a control class, each totaling 28 students. The experimental class was given treatment using the Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) model, while the control class used the TPS model. Data was collected through observation sheets, then analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis tests with the help of SPSS. The test results resulted in t = 4.956 and sig (2-tailed) < 0.001, the findings were smaller than 0.05. Thus, data analysis indicated that the application of SFAE had an impact on the skills of grade IV students of MIN 1 Bandar Lampung. The findings supported the acceptance of Ha and the rejection of Ho. The SFAE model provides greater opportunities for students to play an active role as facilitators, conveying opinions, asking questions, providing responses, and explaining material to peers during the learning process. These findings show that the application of SFAE can create more interactive learning, encourage students' courage in communicating.
