Abstract

This study examines organizational culture at the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara, focusing on academic values and their manifestation in individual and group behavior. A qualitative case study was conducted from January to June 2026, involving faculty leaders, study-program leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, and students selected purposively. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis and analyzed through condensation, coding, categorization, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that academic freedom and academic integrity constitute the core academic values, reinforced by Islamic values including amanah, justice, musyawarah, ukhuwah, ta'awun, and itqan. These values are manifested individually through responsibility, discipline, professionalism, participation, competence development, and service, while group behavior is characterized by communication, coordination, cooperation, deliberation, and collective participation. The most important finding demonstrates that Islamic and academic values do not operate separately but become integrated through internalization into individual and collective behavior, thereby forming an Islamic–academic organizational culture that connects institutional identity, professional responsibility, academic integrity, and collegial relationships within everyday institutional life.
