Abstract

Background: The target area for this community service program is Katong Village, Toroh District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java Province. Several areas in Katong Village are still considered to be lacking in cleanliness, especially drainage channels, which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Therefore, efforts are needed to prevent mosquito transmission. One such effort is to create a spray from essential oils from lemongrass stalks and orange peels as a mosquito repellent. Both ingredients are known to contain refreshing, relaxing, and comforting essential oil compounds, and can be used as mosquito repellents and to control mosquito larvae with abate (abate) medication. The community service method includes field surveys, coordination meetings between the community service team and partners, and then outreach to several residents using lectures, discussions, and questions and answers regarding the relationship between the environment and its impact on the spread of disease. Training is provided on how to make the spray. The results of the community service showed that the participants were very enthusiastic and understood the material provided by the community service team. They were able to independently and effectively make a spray from lemongrass essential oil and orange peel as a mosquito repellent.
