Abstract

A patient safety incident is an unintended event occurring during the provision of patient care. Leadership support is essential in efforts to minimize the occurrence of such incidents. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between leadership support for patient safety and patient safety incidents at North Aceh Hospital. A quantitative, descriptive-analytic research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study population consisted of all 520 healthcare workers at North Aceh Hospital, with a sample of 226 respondents selected via simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test at a 95% confidence level. The results indicated a significant relationship between leadership support for patient safety and patient safety incidents at North Aceh Hospital (OR = 1.08; 95% CI = 0.44–2.63; p = 0.002). The findings of this study can serve as a source of information and input for the public and healthcare professionals regarding the role of leadership support for patient safety in relation to patient safety incidents at the hospital.
