Abstract

This study aims to study and get a picture of species composition and structure of mangrove forests in logged-over areas of 2012, 2014 and 2016 at PT. Bina Ovivipari Semesta Kubu Raya District West Kalimantan Province. The method used in this study was the survey method by way of plotted path, where the laying of the path done by purposive sampling. The results of seedling to tree level showed that of 5 mangrove species found; Mangrove (Rhizophora apiculata), Tumu (Bruguiera gymnorrhiza), Lenggadai (Bruguiera parviflora), Nyirih Batu (Xylocarpus mullocensis) and Blukap (Rhizophora mucronata), the highest diversity index was owned by Rhizophora apiculata Blume species with values from 0.03-0.77; while the lowest diversity index was owned by Rhizophora mucronata species with a value of 0.01. From Index range values ranging from seedling to tree level indicates that the diversity index of logged-over areas of 2012, 2014 and 2106 of mangroves were in the low range.Keywords: mangrove forest, species composition, structure of mangrove.

Abstract

Area of IUPHHK-HA PT. Suka Jaya Makmur has planted three types of Shorea (Shorea leprosula, Shorea parvifolia, and Shorea johoriensis) at silvicultural system TPTI and TPTJ. The present study aimed at identifying the diameter increment of Shorea leprosula, Shorea parvifolia, and Shorea johoriensis which were planted by using silvicultural system of Indonesian Selective Logging and Plantation (TPTI) and Selective Logging and Line Planting (TPTJ). Data collection was done through a technique called purposive sampling. Results of the discussion showed that the diameter increment of Shorea leprosula was bigger than two other types of Shorea i.e. Shorea parvifolia and Shorea johoriensis. The analysis also revealed that there was a difference of the diameter increment between silvicultural system of TPTI and TPTJ. The diameter of TPTJ increased faster i.e. 3.46 cm/year in comparison with TPTI which was only 1.02 cm/year. Keywords: diameter increment, silvicultural system TPTI and TPTJ, three types of Shorea.

Abstract

Hutan Desa Nanga Semangut memiliki potensi sebagai simpanan cadangan karbon melalui tegakan vegetasi di dalamnya, namun, informasi tentang potensi simpanan karbon di Hutan Desa Nanga Semangut belum tersedia, sehingga dirasa perlu dilakukan penelitian tentang potensi karbon pada tegakan pohon di Hutan Desa Nanga Semangut. Tujuan penelitian untuk memperoleh informasi tentang potensi karbon pada tegakan tingkat pohon di Hutan Desa Nanga Semangut Kabupaten Kapuas Hulu. Penelitian menggunakan metode survei dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan jalur berpetak. Panjang jalur penelitian yang digunakan sepanjang 100 meter dimana di dalamnya dibuat petak dengan ukuran 20 x 20 m sebanyak 5 buah. Jumlah jalur yang dibuat sebanyak 5 jalur penelitian. Penentuan peletakkan jalur penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 14 jenis pohon yang ditemukan di dalam jalur penelitian dengan jumlah pohon sebanyak 368 individu/ha. Jumlah potensi karbon sebesar sebesar 109,44 ton C/ha, dimana populasi jenis Meranti (Shorea spp.) paling banyak ditemukan dengan jumlah 218 batang/ha dan memiliki simpanan karbon sebesar 61,57 ton C/ha atau setara dengan 225,97 ton CO2/ha dan jenis Tekam (Hopea spp.) dengan jumlah individu sebanyak 58 batang/ha dan memiliki simpanan karbon sebesar 21,22 ton C/ha atau setara dengan 77,87 ton CO2/ha. Jenis Ubah (Syzygium leptostemon (Korth.) Merrill & Perry) ditemukan sebanyak 23 batang/ha dan memiliki simapanan karbon sebesar 10,48 ton C/ha atau setara dengan 38,47 ton CO2/ha.
