Abstract

This research evaluates the effectiveness of the YouTube platform as a video sharing medium for learning video editing practices at Sekolah Tinggi Multi Media Yogyakarta (STMM). Video sharing platforms such as YouTube have a significant role in supporting independent learning, enabling flexible access to material, and giving students opportunities to develop editing skills. This research data was obtained from questionnaires and in-depth interviews with students enrolled in the Video Editing course at STMM Yogyakarta. The research results show that YouTube plays an effective role as a supporter of independent learning and a complement to face-to-face learning, but does not completely replace direct interaction with lecturers. Using YouTube also faces several obstacles, such as limited internet connection, limited appropriate content, and dependence on visualization without in-depth theoretical understanding. This research recommends optimizing video curation, integrating discussion platforms, and regular monitoring and evaluation.

Abstract

This research focuses on the gimmick in reality television shows, namely the Rumah Uya program which is broadcasted by ANTV station. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach, data collection uses purposive sampling techniques, and data analysis uses content analysis. The results showed that the gimmick added to this event was not only a sound effect, but also create the acting of talents with dialogues that tended to be vulgar and showed impolite behavior. This contradicts with the applicable broadcasting regulations, namely the policies set out in the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (Komisi Penyiaran Indonesia) regulation. Adding gimmicks to the reality show program can be done as long as it does not conflict with decency, law, and applicable regulations.

Abstract

A television program is usually equipped with an opening teaser as the identity of the program. The opening teaser on TVONE's show, entitled "Dua Sisi" (Two Sides) looks simple but interesting to study. This research focuses on the meaning of the sign in the opening teaser of "Dua Sisi". This study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection used purposive sampling technique, and data analysis used Rolland Barthes' Semiotics. The results showed that the meaning of the signs contained in this event had denotative and connotative meanings in accordance with the function of the opening teaser as the identity of the program.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the production process of non-news broadcast programs at the Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP) TVRI Yogyakarta. Using qualitative methods, this study emphasizes descriptive analysis based on in-depth observations of the implementation of AI in broadcast production. The results of the study indicate that the application of AI contributes to increased efficiency and creativity, especially in scriptwriting and music creation. AI allows the production team to create more original content and reduce the risk of copyright infringement. Despite providing significant benefits, the implementation of AI is still limited due to resource constraints, data input accuracy, and lack of technical training. Driving factors such as central policies and ease of production also support the adoption of this technology. Overall, AI has positive prospects at TVRI Yogyakarta, but requires further development to be optimal in broadcast production.

Abstract

The production of this television music program emphasizes the application of visual composition to create an optimal appeal. The process of creating works is carried out through three stages of production, namely pre-production, production, and post-production. In its application, the author uses various elements of image composition, such as headroom, look room, rule of thirds, and camera angle. The application of these elements aims to create visual balance and produce an attractive appearance for the audience. The application of composition principles in the Production of the Television Music Program "Weska" is able to create visual appeal and improve the quality of visuals and viewing experiences, both in the context of musical performances and direct interaction between musicians and audiences.

Abstract

One of the success factors of a television program is program promotion. For this reason, a producer has a role to determine the right promotional strategy. The aim of this study is to create a promotional strategy for documentary programs via social media Instagram to attract attention and to provide information about the program being created to the wider public. The creation method used to create promotional content uses the Canva and Adobe Premiere applications which are used to edit video clips and make them into trailers as part of the program's promotional content. The promotional technique used is sharing content about the program through feeds, reels and Instagram stories. Based on the results of the insight review of the Instagram account used as promotional media, it was found that the total number of visits to all uploaded content was 449 visits in one week. The promotion strategy via Instagram social media is successful and it is used appropriately by sharing content in which the features provided by the Instagram can attract the public's attention.
