Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the leading causes of disability and reduced work productivity worldwide, particularly among workers engaged in static occupational activities such as administrative staff. This study aimed to analyze the association between obesity, represented by body mass index (BMI) as a quantitative indicator, and LBP among administrative staff at RSUD Banten. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from February to March 2026. A total of 84 administrative staff were recruited using consecutive sampling. BMI was obtained from direct anthropometric measurements, and LBP was assessed using a single closed-ended question regarding the presence of pain or discomfort in the lower back within the past 12 months. Data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney U test following a non-normal distribution of BMI confirmed by the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test. This study was conducted with ethical clearance number 44/UN43.20/KEPK/2026. The mean BMI of respondents was 25.50 ± 4.39 kg/m², with a median of 25.2 kg/m²; 50.0% were classified as obesity class I–II based on the WHO Asia-Pacific criteria. The prevalence of LBP was 40.5% (n=34). The median BMI was 25.67 kg/m² in the LBP group and 24.86 kg/m² in the non-LBP group. The Mann–Whitney U test yielded p = 0.529 with an effect size of r = 0.069, indicating a trivial and non-significant difference. Obesity represented by BMI was not significantly associated with LBP among administrative staff at RSUD Banten.

Abstract

Cholelithiasis is a condition where stones form in the gallbladder or bile ducts and its prevalence is increasing in Indonesia. Various risk factors have been identified, with high Body Mass Index (BMI) being one of the dominant risk factors. This study aims to analyze the relationship between BMI and the incidence of Cholelithiasis in various age groups at Banten Regional Hospital. The study used a case-control design with 80 respondents (40 cases and 40 controls) taken from the medical record data of Banten Regional Hospital for the period January 2023-May 2024. Data analysis used Chi-Square test with a significance level of α=0.05. The results showed that in the case group, the majority of respondents had excessive BMI (≥23 kg/m²) as much as 75.0%, while in the control group as much as 42.5%. There is a significant relationship between BMI and the incidence of Cholelithiasis (p=0.025) with a risk of 4.182 times greater in patients with excess BMI than underweight BMI. Analysis in various age groups showed that the relationship between BMI and Cholelithiasis was significant in the young adult age group (18-40 years) with p=0.039, but not significant in the middle adult age group (41-60 years) and the elderly (>60 years). In conclusion, excess BMI is a significant risk factor for Cholelithiasis, with a stronger association in the young adult age group. This study provides scientific evidence of the importance of weight management in Cholelithiasis prevention strategies, especially in the young adult age group.

Abstract

Domestic violence is a serious public health issue with an increasing prevalence each year. In Cilegon City, domestic violence cases have increased significantly, but there is limited research on specific factors associated with domestic violence cases in this region. The research employed a cross-sectional design with a retrospective approach. The sample consisted of 43 violence cases handled at Cilegon Regional Public Hospital during 2021-2024, selected through purposive sampling. Variables studied included victims' educational level and triggering factors such as economic problems and infidelity. Data analysis was performed using chi-square test (p<0.05). Of the total cases studied, 55.8% were identified as domestic violence. The majority of victims (67.4%) had a high educational level (high school-university), and 27.9% of cases were related to triggering factors such as economic problems/infidelity. Statistical tests revealed no significant relationship between educational factors (p=0.594; OR=0.706; 95% CI: 0.196-2.544) or triggering factors (p=0.836; OR=1.153; 95% CI: 0.299-4.439) with the occurrence of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a complex phenomenon that cannot be explained solely through educational factors or specific triggers, but is influenced by various interacting factors. A multifactorial approach in handling and preventing domestic violence is necessary, along with further research using larger samples and examining other factors not covered in this study.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood sugar levels due to impaired insulin production or function. One of its chronic complications is diabetic foot ulcers, which can lead to infection, gangrene, and even amputation, especially in patients with poor glycemic control, as assessed by HbA1c. This condition increases morbidity and mortality, and reduces quality of life. This study aims to determine the relationship between uncontrolled HbA1c levels and the incidence of minor amputations in patients with diabetic foot ulcers at Banten Regional Hospital. This study was an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design using a retrospective approach through medical records of diabetic foot ulcer patients at Banten Regional Hospital. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling with a sample size of 100 subjects who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis using SPSS. The chi-square test was used to determine the relationship between HbA1c and the incidence of minor amputations. The results of the study from a total of 100 subjects showed that from univariate analysis, in the uncontrolled HbA1c group (>7%) the majority experienced minor amputations (53.8%), while in the controlled HbA1c group (≤7%) the majority did not experience amputations (57.1%). From bivariate analysis, there was no significant relationship between HbA1c levels and the incidence of minor amputations (p=0.402). The results of this study also have a 95% Confidence Interval (CI) with a lower value of 0.679 and an upper value of 3.561. There was no significant relationship between uncontrolled HbA1c levels and the incidence of minor amputations.

Abstract

Sexual violence is a serious problem with significant impacts on victims' physical and mental health. This study aims to analyze factors associated with sexual violence cases among patients at Balaraja Regional Hospital, focusing on age factors and victim-perpetrator relationships. This research employed a cross-sectional design with a retrospective approach. Data were obtained from medical records of violence cases at Balaraja Regional Hospital from 2022 to 2024. A sample of 27 cases was selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods with Chi-square or Fisher's Exact Test at a significance level of p<0.05. Out of 27 cases studied, 18 cases (66.7%) were sexual violence. Most victims were under 18 years old (55.6%) and had social relationships with the perpetrators (70.4%). There was a significant relationship between age factors and sexual violence incidents (p=0.014, OR=9.10) and between victim-perpetrator relationships and sexual violence cases (p=0.025). Children and adolescents under 18 years old have a higher risk of experiencing sexual violence, and such violence is more frequently perpetrated by individuals who have social relationships with the victims.
