Abstract

This study aims to: 1) Determine the effect of the PBL model assisted by Crossword Puzzles on motivation and learning outcomes of Integrated Science. 2) Test the differences in learning motivation of students taught using conventional models with PBL models assisted by crossword puzzles. 3) Test the differences in learning outcomes of Integrated Science students. This study is a quasi-experimental study using the Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study was all students of class VIII of SMPN 23 Kendari. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with several criteria and obtained class VIII A as the control class and class VIII C as the experimental class. Data collection used a questionnaire to measure motivation and multiple choices to measure learning outcomes. Data collection techniques in the form of giving pretests and posttests. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential analysis. The results of the study showed that there was an influence of the PBL model assisted by Crossword Puzzles on motivation and learning outcomes of Integrated Science with a significant value of 0.002 <0.05 and there was a difference in motivation and learning outcomes of Integrated Science with significant values of 0.000 <0.05 and 0.000 <0.05 respectively.

Abstract

This study examines the importance of innovation in learning. The main objective of this study is to see the differences before and after the implementation of the learning model in the experimental and control classes. This study uses a quantitative method of the quasi-experimental type, the sample of this study is class VIII.1 as the experimental class and class VIII.3 as the control class. The results of the study show: (1) The percentage of teacher and student activity increased at each meeting. (2) There is no difference in integrated science learning outcomes before the implementation of the learning model, tcount = 1,29 < ttable = 2,01, so (H0) is accepted. (3) There is a difference in integrated science learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the learning model in the experimental class, tcount = 5,34 > ttable = 1,71, so (H1) is accepted. (4) There is no difference in integrated science learning outcomes after the implementation of the learning model, tcount = 0,12 < ttable = 2,01 so (H0) is accepted. (5) It is quite effective in improving integrated science learning outcomes, with an N-gain percentage of 64%. In conclusion, this research is worth conducting
