Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) the level of students’ creative thinking skills before and after the implementation of a Problem-Based Learning model supported by animated videos, (2) the improvement in creative thinking skills, and (3) differences in creative thinking skills among 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar in the topic of the human digestive system. This study is a pre-experimental study with a single-group pretest-posttest design. The study population consisted of all 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar, with a total of 312 students. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, that is, Class VIII.8, which consisted of 28 students. The research instrument was a creative thinking skills test, with data collected through pretests and posttests. The results showed that students’ creative thinking skills improved from the “very low” category to the “moderate” category after the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model supported by animated videos. The average N-Gain for creative thinking skills ranged in the “moderate” category, and there was a significant difference between students’ pretest and posttest scores regarding the human digestive system among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar.
