Abstract

Feed additives are now starting to become a necessity as additional feed in fish feed formulations that are deliberately added in order to affect feed characteristics and fish growth. Some good herb ingredients from the rhizomes (roots), stems, leaves, and fruit by means of extraction, both physically and chemically, which aims to obtain active ingredients. The resulting extracts can be in the form of flour, liquid extracts, and thick extracts. This paper is in the form of a review of several research results regarding the manufacture of herb extracts and their use in fish. Alternative sources of herb ingredients as feed additives with active ingredients in feed can increase feed quality through antioxidant mechanisms or herb antibiotics in increasing productivity.
