Abstract

This study analyzes the performance of finance employees at the Padang Selatan Subdistrict Office and identifies organizational factors associated with their work performance. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed to examine financial administration activities in the workplace. Six informants were selected purposively, comprising the Subdistrict Head, Subdistrict Secretary, Head of the Finance Subdivision, Expenditure Treasurer, Finance Staff member, and Financial System Operator. Data were collected through interviews, direct observation, and document review. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that employee performance is generally adequate, particularly in checking financial documents, completing reports, maintaining accountability, coordinating tasks, and complying with established procedures. However, workload tends to increase during reporting periods, while regulatory and financial system changes require employees to continuously adjust their work processes. Employee initiative and responsibility can also be further strengthened. Organizational factors, including task distribution, communication, coordination, work systems, supervision, and leadership direction, are associated with employee performance. Improving employee performance requires balanced task allocation, clear communication, effective coordination, consistent supervision, adaptation to system changes, and opportunities for employees to strengthen initiative and responsibility in managing financial administration and completing assigned duties effectively.
