Abstract

The urgency of developing Islamic education that is not solely oriented toward the mastery of knowledge but also capable of fostering students’ moral and spiritual awareness. QS. An-Nahl verse 78 explains that human beings are endowed with hearing, sight, and al-Af’idah as potentials for acquiring, processing, and making meaning of knowledge. This study aims to analyze the concept of al-Af’idah in QS. An-Nahl verse 78 and examine its relevance to reflective learning in Islamic education. This study employs a qualitative method using a library research approach and content analysis of books, Qur’anic commentaries, journals, and other literature related to Islamic education and reflective learning. The findings indicate that al-Af’idah is not merely understood as the heart but is also associated with the function of reason and the inner potential of human beings to receive, process, filter, evaluate, and interpret information obtained through hearing and sight. This concept has strong relevance to reflective learning because the learning process does not stop at receiving information but continues through internalization, reflection, self-evaluation, the extraction of wisdom, and the application of learning outcomes in real-life contexts. Thus, al-Af’idah in QS. An-Nahl verse 78 can serve as an epistemological foundation for developing reflective learning that integrates cognitive, affective, moral, and spiritual dimensions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of fitrah in Q.S. Ar-Rum verse 30 and its relevance to the development of a humanistic Islamic education model within the framework of Merdeka Belajar. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods through thematic interpretation studies of Q.S. Ar-Rum verse 30 and Islamic education literature. The findings reveal that human fitrah consists of three main dimensions: fitrah diniyyah (the inclination toward monotheism), fitrah aqliyyah (rational potential), and fitrah ijtima’iyyah (social orientation). These concepts serve as the foundation for humanistic Islamic education, which views students as dignified individuals with unique potentials that need to be developed. The reconstruction of Islamic education based on fitrah within the Merdeka Belajar framework is realized through three main pillars: Tazkiyatun Nafs as a spiritual foundation, Ta’lim Humanis as a learning process, and Tafaqquh Fid Din as a transformative orientation. This model emphasizes education that focuses not only on cognitive aspects but also on students’ spiritual, character, and social development

Abstract

This study examines teacher professionalism from the perspective of Islamic work ethic, using Qur’an Surah Az-Zumar verse 39 as the primary analytical framework. In Islamic education, teacher professionalism is not limited to mastery of competencies and the ability to transfer knowledge but also encompasses character formation and the cultivation of moral and spiritual values among students. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research by reviewing relevant scholarly literature on teacher professionalism, Islamic work ethic, and interpretations of Qur’an Surah Az-Zumar verse 39 published between 2021 and 2025. Data were collected through documentation of journal articles, books, and other academic sources and analyzed using descriptive-analytical techniques. The findings indicate that Qur’an Surah Az-Zumar verse 39 provides an important foundation for performing work according to one’s capacity and role, as reflected in the expression ‘alā makānatukum. This principle encourages teachers to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity, accountability, commitment, and a focus on quality. The Islamic work ethic values relevant to this framework include ikhlās (sincerity), amānah (trustworthiness), itqān (excellence), and mas’ūliyyah (responsibility). Integrating these values can strengthen teacher professionalism by combining professional competence with moral integrity, responsibility, and spiritual awareness in fulfilling the educational mandate
