Abstract

This study aims to design and examine an interdisciplinary Islamic studies learning model as a strategic means to strengthen religious moderation among students of Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) in Lampung Province. Amidst the rapid flow of digital information and socio-cultural heterogeneity, students face potential exposure to exclusive and intolerant religious understandings. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach with library research and secondary data analysis, this research formulates an interdisciplinary learning design that integrates classical Islamic sciences with social sciences and humanities, contextualized through local wisdom such as the Lampung philosophy of Piil Pesenggiri and digital religious literacy. The findings indicate that the interdisciplinary model fosters critical thinking, inclusive attitudes, and mutual understanding by synthesizing theological norms with historical and socio-anthropological contexts. Furthermore, strategic implementation involves curriculum integration, dialogical-participatory pedagogy, lecturer capacity building, and collaborative student organization activities. The study highlights the necessity of institutional support and lecturer role modeling to overcome structural and pedagogical challenges, thereby reinforcing moderate religious perspectives among higher education students in pluralistic regions.
