Abstract

The construction industry is a strategic sector for Indonesia's economic development, but it also has the highest workplace accident rate. This study examines the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the Indonesian construction sector through a studi literatur of 31 related scientific publications. The results indicate that the construction sector contributed 30% of total national workplace accidents, with economic losses reaching IDR 1.2 trillion in 2019. OHS implementation in Indonesia still faces various challenges, including low worker awareness, minimal training, inadequate availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and weak management oversight. Critical factors influencing the success of OHS implementation include leadership commitment, a structured management system, regular training, effective communication, and a strong occupational safety culture. Recommended strategies include strengthening regulations, raising awareness through continuing education programs, investing in safety technology, and developing an OHS management system integrated with the international standard ISO 45001:2018.
