Abstract

Pancasila, as the ideological foundation of the Indonesian nation, did not emerge spontaneously; rather, it is deeply rooted in the cultural and religious values that have long shaped Indonesian society prior to the establishment of the state. Folklore, as a form of oral cultural expression, plays a strategic role in transmitting moral, social, and ideological values across generations. This study aims to identify and analyze the representation of Pancasila’s ideological values in two Acehnese folktales:Carito Sang Nago Jo Tuanku Tapa and Si Bekudo Batu and to examine their relevance as character-education materials grounded in local wisdom. Using a qualitative descriptive method and a content-analysis approach, the study draws on official texts published by the Aceh Provincial Department of Culture as its primary data sources. The findings show that both narratives consistently reflect the five principles of Pancasila through plot structures, character dialogues, and the dynamics of conflict and resolution. The value of Divinity is most prominent, expressed through recognition of divine power and religious practices; the value of Humanity is reflected in empathy, compassion, and respect for others; the value of Unity emerges through solidarity, collective cohesion, and religious symbols that reinforce social bonds; the value of Democracy is manifested in deliberative practices and the role of traditional leaders; and the value of Social Justice appears through depictions of hard work, equitable opportunities, and shared responsibilities. These findings affirm that Acehnese folktales serve as effective ideological and pedagogical instruments, strengthening the internalization of Pancasila values and offering strong potential for contextual integration into character education in schools
