Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the types of phrases based on their categories in the poem Dukamu Abadi by Sapardi Djoko Damono. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data consist of phrases found in the lines of the poem, which are then analyzed based on their categories, namely noun phrases, verb phrases, numeral phrases, and prepositional phrases. Data were collected using the reading and note-taking technique, while the analysis was carried out through identification, classification, and description of the phrases found in the poem. The results show that there are 20 phrase data consisting of 12 noun phrases, 4 verb phrases, 1 numeral phrase, and 3 prepositional phrases. Noun phrases are the most dominant category found in the poem. This dominance indicates that the poem frequently expresses concepts, experiences, and emotions of the lyrical persona. The use of various phrase categories not only forms the grammatical structure of the poem but also strengthens the emotional meaning conveyed by the poet. Thus, the analysis of phrases in this poem demonstrates that linguistic structures play an important role in constructing meaning and aesthetic value in literary works.
