Abstract

Hypertension is a serious condition that triggers the nursing problem of risk for ineffective peripheral perfusion. Warm water and salt foot soak therapy serves as a non-pharmacological intervention option. This therapy aims to control hypertension by improving blood circulation, dilating blood vessels, and reducing peripheral resistance, thereby enhancing the patient’s quality of life. A descriptive-analytic study was conducted using a case study design with a nursing care approach comprising assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The initial assessment revealed the patient’s blood pressure reached 170/90 mmHg, Capillary Refill Time (CRT) was >3 seconds, and the extremities felt cold. The established diagnosis was ineffective peripheral perfusion related to increased blood pressure. Implementation was carried out continuously by applying warm water foot soak exercises with added salt to optimize vasodilation. The final evaluation indicated significant clinical improvement, marked by a decrease in blood pressure, CRT <3 seconds, and extremities returning to a warm temperature. These findings suggest that warm water and salt foot soak therapy can be considered as a supportive nursing intervention to improve peripheral perfusion in hypertensive patients.
