Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program through Community Service (KKN) represents the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education, particularly community service aimed at empowering local communities through applied science and technology. This article presents the implementation of a Thematic KKN in Wonosunyo Village, Gempol District, Pasuruan Regency, a village with strong potential to develop as a sustainable tourism destination. Rich in natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and local traditions, the village offers various resources that can be elevated as tourism attractions. Using a participatory approach, students worked with the community to identify local potentials, address existing challenges, and implement strategic programs focused on tourism infrastructure, community empowerment, and improvements in education and health. The program demonstrated notable impacts, including increased community awareness, stronger participation, and improved capacity in managing village resources. Moreover, students gained practical experience in community empowerment and tourism-based village development. The success of this initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between academics, communities, and local governments in creating inclusive and sustainable development strategies. Wonosunyo Village thus holds the potential to become a leading tourist destination and a model for sustainable tourism village management.
