Abstract

This research examines the strategies used by the fifth-grade teacher in developing students' hard-working character at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Qomar Palembang. It aims to identify the strategies applied, the supporting and inhibiting factors, and the changes that occur after the strategies are implemented. This study uses a qualitative approach, with data collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the use of these strategies has brought positive changes to students, including improved academic and practical achievements, as reflected in various student competitions, as well as increased discipline and responsibility shown by their active participation in school activities. The strategies are implemented during the teaching and learning process and include giving rewards and warnings, creating healthy competition through group work, providing motivation and guidance, and encouraging independent learning. However, teachers also face several challenges in character formation. Family support and parental role models serve as supporting factors, while parental issues, environmental influences, and the rapid development of technology act as inhibiting factors.
