Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen the pedagogical competence of German language teachers through training in the development of learning modules based on deep learning integrated with local Maluku culture and digital technology. The activity involved 19 German language teachers who were members of the German Language Subject Teachers’ Association in West Seram Regency and was conducted in three stages: online socialization, face-to-face training and module development practice, and online mentoring. The needs assessment indicated that the teachers’ main needs involved connecting learning materials with local culture, determining assessment strategies, aligning learning with the curriculum, and developing meaningful learning experiences. The training guided teachers to translate deep learning principles into learning objectives, activities, assessments, integration of local culture, and the use of digital technology. The novelty of this activity lies in integrating deep learning, local Maluku culture, and digital technology into German language learning module development through hands-on practice and continuous mentoring. The activity produced learning modules that utilize Maluku cultural contexts as learning resources and strengthened teachers’ capacity to develop contextual learning. These findings recommend strengthening teacher learning communities and continuously developing locally based teaching materials in language and education.
