Abstract

Alat pengering tandem hibrid panas matahari-biomassa dikembangkan dari alat pengering sebelumnya dengan memanfaatkan gas buang yang dihasilkan sebagai sumber panas sehingga kapasitasnya meningkat dari sekitar 2 ton menjadi 4 ton buah kopi. Tujuan penelitian ini menentukan potensi panas gas buang dari tungku dan pengaruh laju pasokan bahan bakar pada suhu maksimum ruang pengering belakang. Dioperasikan dengan pasokan bahan bakar LPG 1,4–4,35 kg/jam selama 2 jam, suhu udara di kedua ruang pengering tetap lebih tinggi dibandingkan suhu udara luar dari 7,3 jam hingga 14 jam, sementara ruang pengering depan mempunyai suhu udara 36,5–50,1°C dengan kecepatan maksimum antara 0,8–1,4 m/s dan ruang pengering belakang mempunyai suhu 39–108°C dengan kecepatan maksimum 1,15–1,6 m/s. Entalpi udara pengering di ruang pengering belakang secara konsisten lebih tinggi dari ruang pengering depan. Dengan peningkatan pasokan LPG, persentase panas kumulatif yang didistribusikan di ruang pengering belakang meningkat dari 19% menjadi 32% sedangkan potensi panasnya meningkat dari 51,8% menjadi 58,5% dari nilai kalor LPG yang dipasok dan didistribusikan 42,5% menjadi 47,7% di ruang pengering depan dan 4,8% sampai 16% di ruang pengering belakang. Dioperasikan dengan suplai bahan bakar kayu bakar 2,5–15 kg, suhu udara pengeringan maksimum dan lamanya api bertahan membara (waktu pembakaran) meningkat secara linier dengan besarnya suplai kayu bakar. Suplai kayu bakar sebanyak 3,54–12,69 kg ke dalam tungku menghasilkan suhu udara ruang pengering belakang setara dengan berbagai suhu udara alat pengering kopi baik non mekanis maupun mekanis.

Abstract

Calamansi orange peel contains bioactive compounds and essential oils but has not been utilized and is only thrown away as waste. This research aims to determine the effect of adding maltodextrin in the drying process on the characteristics of calamansi orange peel and to obtain panelist acceptance of its use as a green tea flavor. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 1 factor, namely maltodextrin concentration (6%, 8%, 10%). Drying was carried out for 7 hours using an oven at 60 ⁰C. The organoleptic test was carried out by brewing 3 g of a mixture of green tea with calamansi peel powder in a ratio of 1:2 in 220 ml of hot water t a temperature of 85 ⁰C for 5 minutes. The results of the research showed that the calamansi peel powder produced had a water content of 1.41-3.41%, vitamin C of 58.67-108.53 (mg/100g), and a volatile reducing substance (VRS) content of 6.5 -12 meq. The panelists' highest level of preference for calamansi powder as a green tea flavor was obtained in the treatment with the addition of 10% maltodextrin in the range of liking to very liking

Abstract

The Women's Environmental Care Group (KPPL) of Sumber Jaya and Sejahtera in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu, faces challenges in post-harvest handling of fresh products, particularly jackfruit and avocado, which serve as the primary raw materials for their processed goods. Without proper handling techniques, the quality of raw materials declines, affecting the quality of processed products. Therefore, training on Appropriate Technology (TTG) for post-harvest handling is needed to enhance the quality of their processed products. The goal of this initiative is to provide KPPL with knowledge on post-harvest handling so that their processed products can be of higher quality and more competitive. The methods include workshops focused on harvesting, storage, transportation, and packaging of fresh products. Training is conducted through hands-on sessions with KPPL members, involving students as activity supporters. Results indicate improved understanding among KPPL members in proper harvesting and storage techniques, which has led to extended shelf life and better quality of fresh products. Overall, the initiative has successfully raised awareness within KPPL on product quality, marketability, and raw material management for processed products. In conclusion, this TTG training has proven effective in enhancing KPPL’s post-harvest handling quality and improving the competitiveness of their processed products in the market.
