Abstract

One of the determining factors the success of aquaculture is the provision of fish feed. There are many types of fish feed sold in the market, ranging from natural feed to artificial feed. One type of natural fish feed was Daphnia sp. Growth of Daphnia sp can be maximized by utilizing livestock waste as an additional nutrient. The aim of this community partnership program was to socialize to the public about Daphnia sp natural food and provide training to the community on how to cultivate Daphnia sp. The main target was an aquaculture stakeholder namely Women Farmers Group of Permai Tani which was in Gandusari Village, Bandongan District, Magelang Regency. The stages of this activity include tools and materials preparation, program of socialization to partners, implementation, and evaluation program. The working steps of implementing the activity were preparing the tools and materials needed including Daphnia sp seeds, livestock waste (goat manure, chicken manure and eggs) and catfish cultured wastewater as a culture medium. This activity has been carried out well, socialization and training attended by participants from Women Farmers Group of Permai Tani members. The enthusiasm of the participants was very good. This can be seen from sharing and asking activity about how to cultivate Daphnia sp. The results of this activity can increase the production of Daphnia sp which was used as natural fish feed in Gandusari Village, Bandongan District, Magelang Regency.

Abstract

Feed is one of the main components with important function to support the freshwater fish culture success. Sufficient feed quantity and quality can ensure the fish culture cycle continuity. Feed occupies the highest position, which spends 60-80% of the total production cost requirement in intensive fish culture to support the fish growth. The high feed cost is unmatched with the fish selling price, resulting in a minimum profit gain. Based on this condition, a community service, focusing on self-produced feed training needs to be implemented to increase the cost efficiency and effectiveness in freshwater fish culture. This training was conducted in Gunungpring Village, Muntilan Sub-district, Magelang District with fish cultivator communities. The feed used as the object for this training contained artificial and live feed. Training activities contained surveys, field observations, outreach, counseling, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. This training could clearly introduce the community to the use of alternative feeds for ornamental and consumed-fish commodities. Live feed production training included Azolla sp., Daphnia sp., silkworms, and earthworms, while artificial feed included pellets of pf500-1000. This training program increases the community understanding and skills, followed by the quality and quantity of fishery products. As the training also has an impact on the regional food security with massive community assistance, so harvest failure can be minimized optimally.

Abstract

Catfish is a type of freshwater fish that contains abundant protein. Catfish is also a food source with high nutrition so it needs to be processed properly in order to increase people's interest in consuming catfish. One of them is by processing catfish into nuggets, by combining animal food and vegetable food, so that this food will have a nutritional content that is high enough to be consumed. The method used is the lecture method and active participation in the training activities provided. The training was attended by the Head of Gandusari Village, Head of farmer women's group (KWT) Permai Tani. The activity started with preparing tools and materials, delivering material about digital marketing, practicing making carrot catfish nuggets, and handing over cooking equipment to KWT Permai Tani. From this activity it can be concluded that the public likes the Carrot Catfish Nugget products that have been made. The suggestion for the next activity is that the community can independently practice directly making fishery products.
