Abstract

Walkable city is a concept to support livable and sustainable cities. A walkable city is a pedestrian-friendly city where pedestrian spaces and facilities are available in good quality so that they can support the mobility of space users on foot as a form of green mobility. Therefore, it is important to provide a good quality pedestrian to guarantee the safety, comfort and security of people who pass by. This research aims to assess the quality of pedestrians on the Pahlawan road, Pandanaran II road and Tri Lomba Juang road. This area is located in the central area of Semarang city and has high activity, such as government offices, private offices, trade and services, education, and public spaces. The number of users of this space is quite high and some of the users of the space are pedestrians, so it is necessary to assess whether the existing pedestrian area can meet the mobility needs of users or not. Pedestrian quality assessment uses the global walkability index method where there are 9 indicators used as the basis for assessment. The assessment results show that pedestrians on Pahlawan road have a score of 79 (good and adequate). While pedestrians on Pandanaran II road have a score of 57 (fairly good and adequate) and pedestrians on Tri Lomba Juang road have a score of 50 (not good and adequate enough). Keywords: pedestrian, quality, walkability index

Abstract

This study delves into the dynamics of agricultural health in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province, Indonesia, spanning the years 2017 to 2022. By integrating Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques with NDVI-based remote sensing using Landsat imagery from the USGS, our research aims to comprehend the spatio-temporal patterns and transformations in agricultural land health over the study period. The primary objectives encompass understanding these alterations and assessing how urbanization and land utilization impact the well-being of agricultural lands in Sleman Regency. The analytical framework incorporates geospatial processing using QGIS to classify and visualize vegetation health changes, enabling spatially explicit interpretation of land degradation trends. Throughout the 2017–2022 analysis period, a concerning and consistent decline in healthy agricultural lands was observed. By 2022, only 4581.56 hectares of agricultural land remained in a healthy state, constituting a mere 0.011% of the total region, while the expanse of unhealthy land surged from 1109.48 hectares in 2017 to 1160.8 hectares in 2022. This shift underscores a distressing deterioration in the health of agricultural plants due to diminished agricultural land. The geospatial analysis reveals a notable encroachment pattern from urban expansion zones into previously fertile areas, highlighting the urgency for integrated spatial planning. To counter this trend, proactive protection and effective regulation of designated agricultural zones by the Sleman Regency Government are imperative to ensure sustainable cultivation of essential food crops within the region and maintain the overall well-being of the agricultural landscape. The study contributes to advancing GIS-based land monitoring approaches and offers actionable insights for sustainable land use policy formulation in rapidly urbanizing regions. Strengthening policies for sustainable urban development in harmony with agricultural interests is pivotal to securing prosperous and balanced socio-economic growth.

Abstract

In the context of urban and regional planning, this study aims to produce land classification products covering 230 paths/rows throughout Indonesia, which can serve as an important tool in supporting planning and research projects. The research method used combines remote sensing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with the utilization of spectroscopy through QGIS software with Dzetsaka plugins (semi-automatic classification tools). Land cover classifications, which include water bodies, vegetation canopies, green open spaces, bare grounds, settlements, and built-up areas, as well as additional classifications of cloud cover, provide a comprehensive overview of land conditions in Indonesia. Based on the results of the study, the average distribution of land classes reached 10,116. The standard deviation was 14,786, which shows the level of variation in the data against the average value, with the higher value indicating the most significant variation in land classification. This study offers a more potential alternative by using Landsat 8 OLI 2022 satellite imagery data from the USGS as a basis for a more in-depth and accurate analysis of land classification. Thus, the results of this study not only contribute to mapping and understanding land use in Indonesia but also provide useful tools for supporting natural resource planning and management, as well as infrastructure development and sustainable development policies in Indonesia

Abstract

As cities grow and diversify, public institutions play a vital role in urban planning, particularly in climate adaptation, infrastructure improvement, and community welfare.  In Indonesia, the Public Satisfaction Index (Indeks Kepuasan Masyarakat—IKM) provides a standardized tool to capture citizens’ perceptions of service quality, thereby influencing policy formulation, resource allocation, and strategies for service improvement. This study aims to provide the government with insights into the relevance of IKM to the quality of public services, particularly in terms of infrastructure and facilities. The research employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive analysis to provide a detailed and comprehensive description of the research population.  The research data utilises IKM measurements in accordance with Regulation 14/2017 of the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, as well as field observations, particularly in relation to infrastructure and facilities. The IKM survey covered 156 public service units with more than 3,000 respondents, while field observations were conducted on 25 purposively selected units. Observational parameters included building condition, service room quality, toilet facilities, completeness of supporting infrastructure, and accessibility for vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, the elderly, women, and children.  The results of this research show that there is a relationship between the value of IKM and the quality of facilities and infrastructure in the city of Surakarta. Several aspects, such as the availability and completeness of facilities and infrastructure, especially for people with special needs, have a direct impact on the public satisfaction index.
