Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the surface water quality of ponds and swamps in the Kemampo Banyuasin Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) Palembang. Water quality is vital for human life and ecosystems. Therefore, this study focused on physical, chemical and biological parameters to assess the level of contamination and cleanliness of the water. The research methods included field surveys and experiments, as well as laboratory testing. Physical parameters such as temperature, colour, and odour were measured directly, while chemical (pH, Cd, Pb, Fe, and Cu) and biological (Coliform and Escherichia coli) parameters were analysed at the Integrated Laboratory of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. The chemical test method used Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (SSA), while the biological parameters were measured by Most Probable Numbers (MPN). The results showed variations in temperature between stations, with the highest value reaching 30°C. Water was generally brown or turbid in colour and odour. Coliform content ranged from 46 to 2004 MPN/100mL, while chemical parameters showed variations in pH between 5.25 to 5.55. Concentrations of heavy metals such as Cd, Pb, Fe and Cu were also measured, with the water exceeding the water quality standard for sanitary hygienic purposes (Class I), but still meeting the Class III quality standard for irrigating crops or other uses requiring similar water quality. These findings emphasise the need for better protection and management of the water.

Abstract

Tempeh waste is obtained from the tempeh processing cycle in the form of liquid waste. This waste contains protein, fat, carbohydrates, and water. The nutrient content contained in the waste can be utilized by microorganisms for making POC. Effective Microorganisms (EM4) is one of the strong activators used for making POC. Trichoderma harzianum is known as a decomposer that can improve compost quality and soil structure. This study aims to determine whether the POC produced affects the growth of Brassica juncea L. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely P0 (control), P1 (60 ml/L), P2 (120 ml/L) and P3 (180 ml/L). with a total of 24 experimental units. Analysis of NPK and C-Organic nutrient content showed Nitrogen = 0.20%, P = 0.060%, K = 0.24%, Organic C = 1.43%. P3 dose (180 ml/L) is the best dose in mustard green growth which includes observations of plant height, number of leaflets, leaf width, leaf area, mustard wet weight and mustard dry weight.

Abstract

Sumatera Selatan mempunyai aliran sungai dengan jumlah yang banyak salah satunya sungai Rupit di Kabupaten Musi Rawas aliran sungai kawasan ini digunakan sebagai sumber air yang biasa dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sekitar. Indikator pencemaran suatu perairan yaitu ditemukannya bakteri coliform. Tujuan penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui jumlah total mikroba dan kadar cemaran coliform pada perairan sungai Rupit di Wilayah Kecamatan Karang Jaya serta kesesuaian baku mutu untuk keperluan hiegene sanitasi. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif analitik dan metode yang digunakan adalah Most Probable Number (MPN) dan Total Plate Count (TPC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total mikroba yang didapatkan di wilayah hilir, tengah dan hulu memiliki kadar yang tinggi yaitu masing-masing bernilai 108,7 x 105 CFU/ml, 12,7 x 105 CFU/ml dan 6,6 x 105 CFU/ml. Sedangkan nilai kadar cemaran koliforrm dan Escherichia coli di perairan sungai Rupit di Wilayah Kecamatan Karang Jaya di wilayah hilir, tengah dan hulu masing-masing sebesar 585 CFU/100 ml, 2400 CFU/100 ml, dan 1557 CFU/100 ml. Nilai koliforrm dan Escherichia coli  yang didapatkan ini melebihi standar baku mutu air untuk keperluan hiegene sanitasi yang ditetapkan oleh Permenkes Nomor 32 Tahun 2017.

Abstract

Liquid waste from dyeing is the main source of pollution in small industrial areas such as Griya Kain Tuan Kentang, Palembang City, which is famous for its woven and jumputan fabric production. Liquid waste from these activities has the potential to pollute the surrounding environment. Therefore, it is important to evaluate its quality to support ecosystem sustainability and public health. This study aims to analyse the quality of wastewater using physical parameters (temperature, TDS, TSS and brightness), chemical parameters (pH, Cd, Pb, Fe, Cu), and biological (Coliform and Escherichia coli contamination). The type of research used is quantitative research with experimental methods and laboratory tests. Samples from three locations were analysed in the integrated laboratory of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang and directly analysed on site for physical parameters (temperature, TDS and brightness), biological parameters were analysed using the MPN (Most Probable Number) method, and chemical parameters for heavy metals using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy). The results of this study provide an overview of the quality of wastewater at Griya Kain Tuan Kentang which has not met the wastewater quality standards according to the Regulation of the Minister of Environment in 2016 for the brightness and TDS parameters at locations 1 and 2 have met the wastewater quality standards, at location 3 the brightness parameters have not met the wastewater quality standards.

Abstract

Fungus belong to eukaryotic prosthetic organisms that are chemohypertrophic. When studying the properties of fungus, a material is needed as a nutritional source to grow or isolate fungus known as the media. The most commonly used media for fungal culture is instant PDA media. The relatively high price of instant PDA media is a common problem. That's why we need alternative media that are more economical. The aim of this research is to test whether the gadung tuber flour media can be used as an alternative to PDA. Method used in this study is the experimental method and  design used, fully randomized design with 6 treatments and 4 replicates. Concentrations of gadung tuber flour used were 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. The data obtained was analyzed with Annova with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that the grading tuber meal alternative media had a significant effect on the growth of Candida albicans. Fungus can grow in alternative media at a concentration of 5% to 25% with the highest number of colonies at a concentration of 25%, namely 155.3 in 100 µl.AbstrakJamur termasuk organisme prostetik eukariotik yang bersifat kemohipertrofik. Dalam mempelajari sifat-sifat jamur diperlukan suatu bahan sebagai sumber nutrisi untuk menumbuhkan atau mengisolasi jamur yang dikenal dengan media. Media yang paling umum digunakan untuk kultur jamur adalah media PDA instan. Harga media PDA instan yang relatif mahal merupakan masalah yang umum. Untuk itu diperlukan media alternatif yang lebih ekonomis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah media tepung umbi gadung dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pengganti PDA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dan desain yang digunakan, Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 6 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Konsentrasi tepung umbi gadung yang digunakan adalah 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% dan 25%. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan Annova dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa grading media alternatif tepung umbi berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans. Jamur dapat tumbuh pada media alternatif pada konsentrasi 5% sampai 25% dengan jumlah koloni tertinggi pada konsentrasi 25% yaitu 155,3 dalam 100 µl
