Abstract

Painting is a branch of visual arts discipline in Nigeria education and often traced to Paleolithic age.  The study was inspired by the dismal attitude of undergraduate  towards painting and painting media this makes it very important for painting instructors to vary both media and method in painting.  Therefore, Scaffolding serves as a panacea in filling the existing gap.  Quasi-experimental design was used in the study.   60 undergraduate fine arts students of 200 levels of 29 male and 31 female were taken from a Nigeria university.   The study presented two research questions and formulated two null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance.   Scaffolding Painting Achievement Test (SPAT) was of 50 items objectives question extract from validated JAMB visual arts examination was the test items. The Data collected were analyzed with ANCOVA and t-test.  Study disclosed that undergraduate students taught painting via Scaffolding performed better and no significant difference was recorded between the mean of both female and male arts learners exposed to Scaffolding. It was recommended that Scaffolding should be used for teaching of painting in Nigeria university..  DOI: 10.24071/ijiet.2020.040104

Abstract

Early stages of reading and writing rest solely on the alphabet.  Learning of letters with infographics in the elementary classes makes learning more easy and meaningful.  The study examined the potentials of infographics in enhancing learning at an early childhood level especially on letters.  The researcher utilized experimental design which including pre and post-test. The package was validated by experts with a reliability coefficient of 0. 77. The findings of this study showed that the experimental group means a score of 30.60 is higher than the control group means a score of 30.50 co-efficient. Moreover, the means score of 30.742 for females and 30.345 for male pupils was obtained. The study concluded that children at the early childhood level could learn better using infographics based approach. It was recommended that incentives should be provided for pre-school teachers to participate in highly effective staff development to help them integrate infographics into their teaching and learning. Also, infographics based approach be used for all subjects in early childhood education in Nigeria

Abstract

Game has become an imperative source of improvement and innovation of efficiency for instructors across the globe, yet the awareness and utilisation are still lacking by the primary school teachers especially on creative arts instruction.  Therefore, this paper investigated the perception of primary school teachers on awareness and utilisation of game for teaching and learning of creative arts in South-west, Nigeria. Teachers in the both public and private primary school in the South-west, Nigeria were sampled purposively.  The study was a descriptive type by means of survey method. 2 research questions were forwarded and answered with 4 hypothesises tested at 0.05 significant levels.  The research designed instrument was validated by experts and reliability coefficient of 0.72, and 0.79 were realised.  Data collected through structured questionnaire were answered by mean and percentage. The four hypothesises were analysed with t-test.  The findings show that primary school teachers had positive perception on the awareness and utilisation of game for learning of Creative Arts. It was concluded that primary school teachers perceived game to be important and easy to utilise in facilitating teaching learning. The study further recommended that the teachers in primary education classes should be encouraged to utilise game for teaching and learning.

Abstract

The tedious condition of Arts Students in Nigerian Junior Secondary School has been attributed to the inadequate text and soaring cost of existing ones. Therefore, it is important for instructors to adapt their teaching tools. This study used a quasi-experimental to determine the effect of using Drawing-series Instructional Package by comparing the pre and post-test results using Drawing-series Instructional Package (DIP) and Test Instrument of Drawing-series (TID). Ninety students were involved as samples of this research in two groups of the experimental class and the control class. The result showed that there was no significant difference in students’ performance based on DIP and student gender had no effect on student performance. According to the finding of this research DIP is recommended to be developed and used in teaching handicraft subjects in Nigerian schools. Abstrak Kondisi menjemukan siswa-siswi di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) telah diasosiasikan dengan kelangkaan teks dan biaya pembelajaran yang mahal. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi guru untuk mengadaptasi perangkat-perangkat pengajarannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan eksperimen semu untuk mengetahui efek penggunaan Drawing-series Instructional Package dengan membandingkan pra dan post-test menggunakan Drawing-series Instructional Package (DIP) dan Test Instrument of Drawing-series (TID). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan dalam capaian belajar siswa mengacu pada DIP dan kategori gender siswa tidak juga memengaruhi kinerja atau capaian belajar siswa. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian ini, DIP disarankan untuk dikembangkan dan digunakan dalam pembelajaran mata pelajaran kriya di sekolah-sekolah di Nigeria.

Abstract

Google Application for Education is a free suite of hosted communication and collaboration applications, provided by Google for educational institutions. This study investigates lecturers’ adoption of Google applications (apps) for education (GAFE) in university of Ilorin, Nigeria. The objectives of the study, among others, were to determine lecturers’ perceived adoption of Google Application for Education for instruction in a Nigerian university. The study adopted descriptive research design, using quantitative survey method. Four research questions and two hypotheses were answered and tested respectively. A total of one hundred and sixty-eight (168) respondents were randomly sampled; frequency counts, percentages and mean were employed to answer research questions while hypotheses were tested using t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings of the study concluded, among many others, that lecturers perceived adoption and ease of adoption of GAFE for instruction in the university was positive. The study recommended that lecturers should be encouraged to explore full benefits of GAFE to improve classroom instruction. Abstrak Aplikasi Google untuk pendidikan (Google Applicaiton for Education, GAfE) merupakan aplikasi komunikasi dan kolaborasi yang disediakan oleh Google secara gratis untuk dunia pendidikan. Penelitian ini mengkaji adopsi GAfE oleh para dosen di Universitas Ilorin, Nigeria, terutama untuk mengetahui pemahaman para dosen dalam mengadopsi GAfE untuk perkuliahan. Penelitian ini mengadopsi desain deskriptif, terutama menggunakan survei. Terdapat empat pertanyaan penelitian yang diajukan dan dua hipotesis yang diuji. Sebanyak 168 responden dipilih secara acak, perhitungan frekuensi, persentase, dan rata-rata digunakan untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian, sementara hipotesis diuji menggunakan uji-t dan analisis varian (Anova). Penelitian ini merekomendasikan bahwa para dosen hendaknya harus didorong untuk mengeksplorasi manfaat sepenuhnya dari GAfE untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran di kelas.

Abstract

Educators have been striving to bring to reality learning through playing and fun. It is real obvious that the use of game has brought positive changes to instruction. Therefore, this study investigates the acquisition of graphic skill through creative sorting game among the junior secondary schools. The study employed experimental of pre and post test from quasi, samplings consisted of 69 students of which are 34 male and 35 female students, based on simple random sampling. Two hypotheses were raised and tested with ANOVA and t-test statistical analysis. Findings revealed that creative sorting game was positive in the context of teaching creative arts and it was recommended that the use of creative sorting game should be encouraged in learning among the junior secondary schools in Nigeria.Keywords: creative sorting game, graphical skills, junior high school, quasi experimental design DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v20i2.pp30-38
