Abstract

Dynamic business environment often forces many organizations to make change immediately, especially in the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak. In turn, organizations need to make sure that their members accept and support change. The purpose of this research is to examine the role of supervisory support by using social exchange theory and self-efficacy for change by using social learning theory in predicting the multidimensional of individual readiness for change (i.e., cognition, affection, and intention). Also, this research sought to examine the mediation role of self-efficacy for change in the relationship between supervisory support and individual readiness for change. A total of 96 employees from Islamic Rural Bank in East Java, Indonesia has participated in this research. Partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) is employed for analysing research hypotheses and revealed that the higher perceived supervisory support and self-efficacy for change, the higher cognitive, affective, and intentional readiness for change. Finally, this paper recommends several implications that worth considering, both theoretically and practically.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of change communication and trust in management on behavioral resistance to change by using social exchange theory. Also, this study sought to examine the moderating effect of trust in management in the relationship between change communication and behavioral resistance to change. This research involved Shariah Rural Bank in which the middle change implementation. The designed questionnaires were distributed to all employees (n = 96) and returned all. In addition, PLS-SEM is used as a method of research analysis. The results show that change communication becomes a significant predictor towards behavioral resistance to change. Unfortunately, trust in management has not a direct significant relationship with behavioral resistance to change. However, this study found the significant moderating effect of trust in management in the relationship between change communication and behavioral resistance to change. Finally, this study offers several implications, both theoretically and practically.

This study involved shariah rural bank, located in East Java, as a research object. Furthermore, a quantitative approach was employed in this study, in which survey as a procedure for collecting data through questionnaires. In addition, PLS-SEM was employed as an analysis of research method. The results exhibit that communication of change contribute to develop of almost all forms attitude of readiness to change and change-efficacy can predict all forms of readiness to change. Finally, this study offers several implications, both theoretically and practically.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the impact of techno overload on work performance in MSME workers. Apart from that, this research examines the mediating role of emotional exhaustion in workers because of their work. Data was collected from MSMEs that apply technology in Semarang City, Central Java, involving 315 MSME employees as respondents. The approach used is quantitative analysis using the SmartPLS technique. The results show that techno overload influences emotional exhaustion and work performance of MSME employees who use technology, but emotional exhaustion is very weak in mediating between techno overload and work performance. This research provides several theoretical and practical contributions.

Abstract

Background – Stress caused by technology overload in the workplace is one of the main factors leading to workplace stress as well as the demand for continuous improvement in work performance which can eventually lead to feelings of pressure and work overload. Aim - This study is to analyze the impact of Techno-Overload on Work Performance with Work Engagement as an Intervening Variable on MSME Workforce in Semarang City. Design / methodology / approach – The method used in this research is survey methodology and respondents in the SMEs workforce in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. SMEs in the Food & Beverage, Handicrafts, Fashion/Clothing, Retail/Minimarket, Services, and Other sectors were sampled because the workforce requires technostress-related treatment related to the types of disorders in the workforce and organizational losses, such as fatigue, dissatisfaction, anxiety, and decreased productivity. To achieve the objectives of this study, researchers involved 315 workers from 6 sectors and distributed them to SMEs in Semarang City. Findings – The results of this study techno-overload as a technostress variable have a positive relationship to work performance. However, this study shows that work engagement has a significant influence in influencing work performance but the role of work engagement has no influence in mediating technological overload on work performance. This research is to provide an understanding of technostress that has a negative impact on MSMEs so that the workforce is able to take steps to overcome it and theoretically this research can be a benefit for further research. Conclusion - Low techno-overload in SMEs in Semarang City can improve workforce performance. The higher work engagement and the lower techno- overload in the workforce of SMEs in Semarang City can improve workforce performance Research implication – This research is to provide an understanding of technostress that has a negative impact on SMEs so that the workforce is able to take steps to overcome it and theoretically this research can be a benefit for further research. Limitations - This research solely concentrates on one primary stress variable, techno-overload, because this variable significantly affects workers within the research context. There are still many research variables that could be explored regarding the phenomenon of technostress affecting job performance. Another limitation of this study is that the researchers only conducted the study in one city.

Abstract

Technology has become an integral part of work life, providing significant benefits for increasing productivity and competitiveness. However, the use of technology also carries risks, especially in the form of technostress, namely, the stress that arises from using technology. This study aimed to investigate the impact of technological complexity as a technostress trigger on work performance among employees in micro, small, and medium enterprises in Semarang, Indonesia, with emotional exhaustion as a potential mediator. The sample for this study consisted of 315 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise workers in various sectors. Data were collected through surveys and analyzed using structural equation modeling and partial least squares. The research results show that technological complexity negatively affects emotional exhaustion, but does not significantly affect work performance. By contrast, emotional exhaustion negatively influenced work performance. However, there is insufficient evidence to support the mediation of emotional exhaustion between technological complexity and workplace performance. These findings emphasize the importance of considering additional factors beyond techno complexity in shaping work performance as well as the importance of organizational support in mitigating the negative impact of techno complexity on employee well-being and performance in micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
