Abstract

Academic procrastination often becomes an obstacle that affects student achievement. This study aims to examine the effect of time management on academic procrastination among 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Demak. Using quantitative regression analysis within a correlational design, this study included all 11th-grade students from 12 classes (n=428) via total sampling. The results showed a strong negative correlation (r = -0.704, p < 0.001), with the regression equation Y = 103.887 – 0.911X indicating that each one-point increase in time management reduces procrastination by 0.911 points. Time management explains 49.6% of the variance in procrastination (R² = 0.496). In practice, these findings highlight the importance of equipping students with structured time management skills, which can improve learning outcomes, reduce stress, and prepare them to meet the increasing academic demands at higher levels of education. Given the urgency of academic procrastination as a widespread problem affecting students globally, this study emphasizes the need for schools to implement prevention strategies through guidance and counseling services. Abstract

The phenomenon of students working while attending college is growing, including involvement in informal night work such as the entertainment industry and covert prostitution. The purpose of this study is to gain an in-depth understanding of how students who become commercial sex workers (CSWs) interpret their self-concept, as well as the social, economic, family, and psychological factors that shape this experience. The data analysis technique in this study uses a qualitative approach with the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method, involving three female participants aged 22–25 who are active students and have experience working as “campus prostitutes”. The results show that involvement in this work is influenced by economic factors, broken home conditions, peer pressure, and the search for self-identity. The students experienced psychological conflicts in the form of guilt, moral dilemmas, efforts to maintain their identity, and strategies to balance their roles as students and night workers. Themes such as becoming a sex worker, time management, contraceptive use, worship, stigma, and economic change were recurring findings. This study confirms that informal night work has a significant impact on the formation of students' self-concept and psychosocial well-being.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the 21st century has had a significant impact on education, including the emergence of moral degradation, increasing individualism, and instant-living tendencies among students. These conditions contribute to academic pressure and psychosocial problems, requiring more comprehensive guidance and counseling services. The implementation of deep learning within the Merdeka Curriculum serves as a strategic approach to strengthening students’ character and resilience; however, its application remains limited because many counseling teachers have not yet fully developed adequate emotional regulation and social awareness skills. The integration of elaborative mindfulness strategies into deep-learning–based counseling services offers a promising solution by emphasizing non-judgmental awareness, enabling counselors to be fully present, empathetic, and able to create a conducive counseling atmosphere. This community engagement program aims to enhance the understanding and skills of counseling teachers in integrating both approaches. A total of 71 counseling teachers participated in the program. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR) conducted over two weeks, consisting of five stages: (1) Diagnosing, identifying key partner issues such as difficulties in analyzing the needs of Generation Z and Alpha students and the lack of understanding of deep learning; (2) Action Planning, designing interventions through seminars, lectures, demonstrations, and online mentoring; (3) Action Taking, conducting training sessions with expert speakers; (4) Evaluating, assessing the impact of the interventions through open-ended questionnaires; and (5) Specifying Learning, documenting insights gained from both the successes and challenges of the implementation process. The results show an increase in teachers’ understanding from a score of 22.02 to 27.65. These findings highlight that strengthening the competencies of counseling teachers through contextual and collaborative approaches effectively supports the integration of deep learning and mindfulness in guidance and counseling services.
