Abstract

Research methodology is a required subject that must be taken by IPTS students in order to conduct their thesis guidance. It requires students to raise an education problem to carry out the introduction of research proposal and implementation. And so the students need to think critically. Basically, students have been difficulties to formulate problems that can be raised as a research. This requires a scientific or known as a saintifical approach and project assesment in order to students can be trained to work out proposals and research reports systematically using the scientific method. The use of a scientific-based project assessment instrument aimed ata valid . saintifical approach assesment of projects increasing 21st students’ critical thinking skills  in research methodology courses. The use of this asssment instrument can be used for further decision-making in depelovment of future study processes of vresearch methodology. Abstract

This study addresses the issue of low active participation among students in chemistry learning, as well as their difficulties in understanding macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic concepts, which contribute to unsatisfactory learning outcomes. To tackle these challenges and enhance students' performance in chemistry, a valid, practical, and effective IPSIA learning model was developed. The research employed a development approach based on the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) model, beginning with a thorough analysis of the curriculum. This was followed by the design of the IPSIA model, which was validated using a questionnaire instrument. The results of the validity test scored 98, categorizing it as "very good." Additionally, the practical test of the IPSIA model also received a score of 98, indicating that it is user-friendly. During the implementation phase, the effectiveness of the model was assessed through test results. The improvement in students' chemistry learning was evidenced by normalized gain scores: 0.57 for the control class and 0.72 for the experimental class at Senior High School (SMA) 2 Padangsidimpuan, as well as 0.52 for the control class and 0.64 for the experimental class at SMA 5 Padangsidimpuan. These findings demonstrate that the IPSIA learning model is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' chemistry learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the practicality of an inquiry-based laboratory module on atomic structure and nanomaterials to enhance vocational high school students’ relational understanding, as outlined in the SOLO Taxonomy. The method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which involves needs analysis, design, development, limited trials, and module evaluation by students and teachers of Agrobusiness and Horticulture at SMK Negeri 2 Banjit. Practicality data were obtained through a Likert-scale questionnaire assessing ease of use, student engagement, alignment with the SOLO Taxonomy, as well as the evaluation and impact of learning. The practicality test results show that all aspects of the module were rated as very practical, with average scores of 98.0% from teachers and 89.13% from students, indicating the module’s strong feasibility for classroom implementation in vocational chemistry learning. The integration of inquiry-based learning with the SOLO Taxonomy demonstrates meaningful pedagogical value in supporting students’ progression toward relational-level conceptual understanding and strengthening active engagement with abstract chemical concepts such as nanomaterials. Scientifically, this research contributes an empirically validated instructional model that bridges theory and laboratory practice, offering a scalable approach to enhancing higher-order thinking skills and practical competence in vocational science education. The findings underscore the importance of structured inquiry modules as a strategic approach to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of chemistry learning, thereby preparing students for industrial and professional demands.
