Abstract

In this digital era, technological development is one of the main developments in human life today. And along with the times, there is drone technology which is currently becoming popular among the wider community with its ability to take photos and videos.[1] One of the technological innovations that are developing in the current era of globalization is drone technology which in military terms is also called Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is a type of aircraft that can fly without a crew. The waypoint method works by finding the coordinates of the position to be addressed and then returning to the initial position. Autonomous is an autopilot mode with reference to GPS coordinate data on electronic devices that can move automatically without using a remote control in its movement. In the process of carrying out an autonomous drone mission, it requires several steps in which there are hyperlapses, waypoints, and intervals. From the results of testing autonomous missions on the DJI Mavic 2 Combo drone, a conclusion can be drawn where the drone is able to carry out its mission correctly.

Abstract

Abstract

The climate change that has occurred in the last decade has seriously impacted food availability and price pressures from the macro side, as well as the sustainability of farming activities and the welfare of farmers from the micro side. One form of climate change is crop failure; thus, to anticipate crop failure, farming households implement coping strategies to survive well. This study aimed to analyse the coping strategies used by farm households to deal with crop failures. The data used in this study were sourced from the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) conducted in 2007 and 2014. There were 3338 samples of farming households in a panel data format that could be used in the analysis. The analytical method used in this study uses a fixed effects approach at the household and rural levels to avoid potential bias from endogeneity and heterogeneity problems. The results showed that the coping strategies adopted by farming households were more likely to sell livestock and household assets and increase the number and frequency of loans. Reducing consumption has not been statistically proven as a coping strategy chosen by farming households facing crop failure.

Abstract

CPO prices fluctuation cause price uncertainty formed in the future. Hedging is an activity carried out by market participants to mitigate the risk of price fluctuations. The Covid-19 pandemic disrupts the supply and demand of CPO, affecting price alteration, especially in the spot and futures markets. This study determines market efficiency and the CPO price asymmetry relationship between the Medan spot market, the Jakarta futures market, the Malaysian futures market, and the Rotterdam forward market prior to and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data used in this study are daily price data on each market from January 2016 to December 2020. They are analyzed using the NARDL model. There is a price asymmetry relationship between the spot and futures markets preceding and during the covid-19 pandemic. The increase in CPO prices causes a more significant impact than the decline in prices in the long term. In addition, there is also a long-term and short-term efficient relationship between the spot market and the futures market for CPO commodities. Thus, the hedging function performed by the CPO commodity market participants will run effectively. Keywords: CPO Price, NARDL Model, Market Efficiency, Cointegration, Pandemic Covid-19

Abstract

Corn and poultry are two strategic commodities supporting food security and highly dependent on one another. This study analyses the short-term and long-term relationship between the price variables for eggs, broiler, and corn. It determines the effect of COVID-19 at the producer and consumer levels on the price of eggs in 28 provinces in Indonesia using the Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PARDL) – Pooled Mean Group (PMG) approach. The PARDL estimation showed a short-term relationship between egg, broiler, and corn price variables at the producer and consumer levels, and this is shown by a significant positive and negative relationship in several provinces. There is a substitution relationship between laying hens and broiler in North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, Banten, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, and West Papua, while the complementary relationship only occurs in Bali. In addition, the Indonesian laying hen industry should be supported by integrated policies from upstream to downstream. This is a policy of the lowest and the highest retail price and those that regulates the creation of corn supply balance inputs as the main feed for laying hens.
