Abstract

Low Birth Weight is the cause of infant death in East Java. This is influenced by chronic energy deficiency which results in babies being born prematurely. The research aims to determine the relationship between chronic energy deficiency in pregnant women and the incidence of Low Birth Weight. The analytical research design uses a Retrospective Cohort using 53 samples calculated by the Slovin formula and total sampling in the technique. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate chi-square. Getting results from 16 respondents who experienced BBLR as much as 30.2%, as many as 20 respondents who were pregnant women experienced KEK 37.7%. Based on analysis tests, it was found that half of pregnant women with KEK had a Low Birth Weight of 50.0%. Meanwhile, the results of the bivariate analysis with Chi-square obtained a p-value of 0.014 where p < α 0.05, which states that there is a relationship between KEK pregnant women and the incidence of Low Birth Weight in PMB Cemandi. The OR value is 4.5 which states that pregnant women with CED have a 4.5 times risk of having a Low Birth Weight baby

Abstract

Background: Complementary therapy is one of the community’s treatment options, especially for pregnant and giving birth women. In various health service settings, quite a few clients ask health workers, such as midwives, about complementary or alternative therapies. This happens because clients want to get services according to their choices, so if their wishes are fulfilled, it will have an impact on client satisfaction. This can be an opportunity for midwives to play a role in providing complementary therapy. Regarding complementary therapy, it is regulated in the Decree of the Minister of Health No. 1109/Menkes/Per/IX/2007 concerning complementary-alternative medicine. Objective: to determine the implementation of complementary midwifery services at the Independent Midwife Practice Place (TPMB) in the Blimbing area, Kesamben District, Jombang.

Abstract

One intervention that can help speed up the progress of labor is giving acupressure. Providing complementary therapy to birthing mothers is considered safer and has minimal side effects compared to invasive therapy. The acupressure method effectively reduces pain and strengthens contractions, prevents the transmission of harmful stimuli, increases the amount of endorphins in the blood and speeds up the process of labor. If the progress of labor is not handled properly, it can cause birth complications. The aim of the research was to determine the difference between the Li 4 and Sp 6 acupressure points on the duration of the first stage of labor. The research design uses a quantitative descriptive research type with a quasi-experimental design. The sample in this study was 45 respondents. The hypothesis used to test the difference between two means with the right-hand test is the t test if the data distribution is normal with a probability value ≥ 0.05 and if the data distribution is not normal with a probability value < 0.05 then use the Man Whitney test. The research results obtained, Output "Test Statistics" Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05, so there is a significant influence between SP6 point acupressure on the duration of the first stage of labor in the active phase. Meanwhile, the output "Test Statistics" acupressure point LI4 with Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05, so there is a significant influence between LI4 point acupressure on the duration of the first stage of labor in the active phase. The results of the research are that it is hoped that health workers can use the acupressure method at points SP6 and LI4 to speed up the duration of the 1st stage of labor. This method is included in the application of maternal care to speed up the labor process.

Abstract

Pregnancy is an important period in a mother's life. Changes in pregnant women can trigger psychological problems in pregnant women. The problem that often arises is anxiety, especially in the final trimester when facing the birth process. The body will produce the hormone cortisol, which if excessive can affect the health of the baby and the mother's health.  Anxiety experienced by pregnant women is a condition where a person experiences uncomfortable, unpleasant feelings about thoughts that will happen in the future. In this case, the mother is afraid that the baby will be born at any time under normal conditions, or even die. Anxiety of pregnant women triggers stimulation of uterine contractions. Therefore, the anxiety of pregnant women can be overcome with complementary therapy methods, namely ENMASROLE (Endorphin Massage and Lavender Aroma).  This study aimed to determine the effect of ENMASROLE therapy on reducing maternal anxiety levels in childbirth. Pre-Experiment research method with Pre-Test-Post Test.
