Abstract

This study explores the development and validation of mathematics teaching materials that integrate Islamic values to foster both cognitive and ethical growth in students. Utilizing the scientific horizon model, these materials were designed to connect mathematical concepts with Islamic teachings, making learning relevant to students’ cultural and spiritual backgrounds. The development followed the Plomp model, with five stages: initial investigation, design, development, evaluation, and dissemination. Expert validation rated the materials as "valid" (average score of 4.09), affirming their educational rigor and cultural appropriateness. Field trials with 50 first-semester students from the Mathematics Education Study Program at the State Islamic University of Mataram showed high student engagement, with over 90% expressing positive responses. Students reported that the contextualized lessons—such as using modular arithmetic to calculate prayer cycles and exploring infinity through Qur’anic reflections—enhanced their understanding and engagement. This study demonstrates that integrating Islamic values into mathematics not only aids in comprehension but also promotes ethical reflection, supporting the holistic educational mission of Islamic institutions. Recommendations for future research include broader implementation across educational contexts and expansion into other STEM subjects.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the teacher's teaching style on students' mathematics learning outcomes in the case study flat-sided geometric material at Pringgasela 1 Public Middle School. This research is a quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental quantitative research with a non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMPN 1 Pringgasela. In taking the sample, the researcher used a purposive sampling technique because the researcher took a sample of 2 classes whose population actually consisted of 7 classes with the consideration that the selected samples had the same abilities. The data in this study were taken using questionnaires and tests, questionnaires to see differences in teacher teaching styles, and tests to see the effect of teacher teaching styles on student mathematics learning outcomes. Based on the results of the questionnaire data, the average experimental class was 64.91 and the control class was 61.08. The results of the test data obtained an average of 71 experimental classes and 63,594 control classes. To find out that there is influence of the teacher's teaching style on students' mathematics learning outcomes, the researcher analyzed the data using the -test. Based on the results of data analysis in the questionnaire obtained tcount = 2.06 and ttable = 1.999 and for student learning outcomes data obtained tcount = 2.05 and ttable = 1.999. Obtained tcount > ttable at a significance level of 5%, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the teacher's teaching style on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMPN 1 Pringgasela

Abstract

Various methods and results of interpretation have emerged (according to the times and needs) that can be accessed by the public in understanding the meaning and content of the Qur'an itself. From the aspect of the text, the Qur'an has not changed since it was first revealed until now, but what has changed is the interpretation of the text in accordance with human space and time. Al-Qur'an is always open to analysis, and interpretation with various tools, methods and approaches. Various variants of the Ulama's manhaj regarding interpretation have emerged as a way to explore the meaning of the content contained in the Qur'an itself. on the other hand, the problem of interpretation arises in line with the complexity of human problems. Therefore, this article will focus on the meaning of interpretation, the history of the development of interpretation which is focused on the classical and medieval eras of interpretation and the variants of the manhaj of the scholars. This paper was prepared based on a review of literature or documents using a qualitative approach, type of content analysis method, Klaus Krippendorf (2004). The primary source used is the literature by "Husayn 'Alawl Mehr" An Introduction to the History of Tafsir and Commentators of the Qur'an (2012), and several other references. Secondary sources are taken from several articles related to the themes studied.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of an ethnomathematics-based problem-based learning (PBL) model on students’ mathematical conceptual understanding. By integrating local culture into mathematics instruction, the model aims to facilitate more meaningful and contextual learning. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design. Two classes were purposively selected: an experimental class with 20 students and a control class with 27 students, based on initial ability homogeneity and scheduling considerations. Data were collected through an essay test, developed from indicators of conceptual understanding, and supported by classroom observations. Data analysis involved prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity) and hypothesis testing using the independent samples t-test. The results revealed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05), indicating that the ethnomathematics-based PBL model positively influences students’ conceptual understanding. These findings highlight the potential of integrating cultural contexts into problem-based learning to enhance students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the ethnomathematics elements in the Islamic ornament design of building B FTK UIN Mataram. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research. Data on ethnomathematics elements in the Islamic ornament design of building B FTK UIN Mataram was taken using observation and documentation techniques. The object in this research is the Islamic ornaments of building B FTK UIN Mataram. All data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive with the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the research are that there are ethnomathematics aspects in the Islamic ornaments of building B, Faculty of Tarbiah and Teacher Training, Mataram State Islamic University. This can be seen from the geometric concepts of flat shapes and spatial shapes such as rectangles, hexagons, hexagrams, blocks and tubes. Then there are the concepts of transformation geometry such as translation, reflection and rotation
