Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Jatiroto in statistical material. This research is a qualitative research. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII E SMP Negeri 2 Jatiroto. Data collection techniques used in this study were tests and interviews. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.  The results of this study, the subjects selected were 6 students with 2 subjects of high achievement, 2 subjects of moderate achievement, and 2 subjects of low achievement. With high achievement subjects meeting the 5 indicators of mathematical communication ability given, medium achievement subjects meeting 2 indicators of given mathematical communication skills, and low achievement subjects fulfilling 1 indicator of given mathematical communication skills. The conclusions of the study indicate that the mathematical communication skills of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Jatiroto in statistical material are as follows: (1) students with high achievement have good mathematical communication skills, (2) students with moderate achievement have quite good mathematical communication skills, (3) students with low achievement have poor mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Representational ability is an important element in understanding mathematical concepts. The temulawak approach (Techniques for Information Discovery, Processing and Insights for Computing), rooted in cybernetic theory, is integrated with R and developed as a learning tool to improve students' mathematical representation skills in understanding probability distribution concepts. The purpose of this study is to determine how integrating the temulawak approach with R software improves students' mathematical representation skills. The experiment was conducted on 18 student subjects enrolled in the Theoretical Descriptive Statistics course for the 2024/2025 academic year. Evaluations were conducted at the beginning of the course and at the end of each learning phase. The results of the analysis using a paired-samples t-test with α = 5% showed an increase in mathematical representation skills from the pretest to the posttest of 44,55%. The effect of this learning is considered significant (d > 0.8). These findings indicate that integrating temulawak and computational technology through R software improves students' mathematical representation skills. This study implies that integrating the temulawak approach with R software can significantly strengthen students' mathematical representation skills and conceptual understanding of probability distributions, thereby confirming the benefits of cybernetic-based learning approaches supported by computational technology.

Abstract

Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan skor kemampuan pemecahan masalah Kombinatorik antara mahasiswa yang memperoleh perkuliahan dengan pendekatan etnomatematika dan pendekatan pembelajaran langsung. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian eksperimental semu dengan variabel bebasnya adalah pendekatan pembelajaran yang meliputi dua jenis yaitu pendekatan pembelajaran langsung dan pendekatan etnomatematika serta variabel terikatnya adalah skor kemampuan pemecahan masalah kombinatorik. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester VI Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Universitas Veteran Bangun Nusantara Sukoharjo. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan menggunaan teknik cluster random sampling. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode tes yaitu tes pemecahan masalah kombinatorik. Uji hipotesis yang dilakukan adalah dengan uji beda rerata t-test. Uji hipotesis dilakukan dengan program PSPP. Hasil dari uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa yang memperoleh perkuliahan dengan pendekatan Etnomatematika memperoleh skor kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang lebih tinggi dari pada perkuliahan dengan pendekatan langsung. Abstract : This study aims to compare the scores of problem-solving skills combinatories between students who obtained the lecture with the approach of etnomatematics and direct learning approach. This research is a quasi experimental research with independent variable is approach of learning which include direct learning approach and ethnomatematic approach and dependent variable is score of problem solving ability of combinatoric. The population in this research is all students of 6th grade of Mathematics Education Program FKIP Universitas Veteran Bangun Nusantara Sukoharjo. Research sample is taken by using cluster random sampling technique. Methods of data collection is done by the test method is a combinatoric problem solving test. Hypothesis test is done by using t-test average test. Hypothesis testing is done with PSPP program. The result of the hypothesis test shows that the students who get the lecture with the Ethnomatematic approach get the higher problem solving skills score than the lecture with the direct approach.

Abstract

One of the effective strategies to measure students' mathematical literacy is the mind mapping approach to education. The purpose of this study was to describe the mind mapping model on flat building materials in improving students' mathematical literacy. The approach method used was descriptive qualitative, this study surveyed 21 sixth grade students of SMP Penda Tawangmangu, with three samples selected to reflect high, medium, and poor performance. The strategies used were interviews and test questions. Data analysis procedures included data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. Three indicators were met by four students in the high mathematical literacy ability category, thirteen by students in the medium mathematical literacy ability category, although the level of completeness and accuracy was lower, and four by students in the low mathematical literacy ability category.

Abstract

Matematika berperan penting dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir logis dan pemecahan masalah siswa. Namun, masih banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep, menerapkan rumus, dan menyelesaikan soal cerita. Kesulitan ini berpotensi berdampak berkelanjutan karena keterkaitan antar konsep dalam matematika serta dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal dan eksternal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat dan faktor dominan penyebab kesulitan belajar matematika pada siswa kelas VIII A SMP Asy-Syifa Boarding School Sukoharjo. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan triangulasi wawancara, subjek penelitian ini adalah 40 siswa kelas VIII A. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat kesulitan belajar siswa secara klasikal berada pada kategori Tinggi (63,94%). Faktor dominan penyebab kesulitan adalah faktor internal, yaitu kelemahan kognitif (71,63%) dan kecemasan afektif (65,50%), disusul oleh metode pedagogik guru (61,50%). Faktor lingkungan menempati persentase terendah (57,13%) karena ekosistem asrama dan larangan gawai terbukti sangat efektif menekan distraksi eksternal. Kesimpulannya, lingkungan boarding school sudah sangat kondusif, namun siswa masih terhambat oleh lemahnya pemahaman konsep dasar matematika yang akhirnya memicu kecemasan.
